Take off your orange & green glasses

This was a 7-8 win team but that depended on Gattis being a comparable OC to Lashlee.
Let’s be honest that UM won 7 games last year because of Lashlee’s offense against mediocre/bad teams. Without Lashlee that team would have won 3 games.

I forgot because I was told all year that it was a Coastal winning team with competent coaching… now the “competent coaching” just needs his guys…

Blame to go around, but Mariattis broke our offense and highly touted QB.

There is no argument for Gattis and Ponce to remain on staff when they weren’t adult enough to coach together.

If Mario allows it to happen again he should be fired.

If anybody feels this is a coaching issue look at the current state of the U in the NFL right now. We have no stars/pro-bowl or all pro level guys. Maybe Phillips? Rousseau? Keep the whole staff for Atleast one more year intact. We need to gut & purge this roster big time. We all underestimated how little talent we actually have. Manny & Richt destroyed this roster with poor recruiting & roster management. I believe Mario can get us back to the point where we have 40+ guys on active nfl rosters & sone of them being stars in the league. If the coaching still sucks at that point than I will blame the coaching.
Gtfo with this keep the whole staff bit. You are high af if you think our offensive scheme falls on the players. Coaches at SMU did more with less last year.

This program has been a joke for over 15 years with a revolving door of coaches; Mario the third head coach in five years and the sixth in 16 years—and until a year ago next month, Miami didn't invest two cents into this program—low-rent hires with a president who not only didn't invest in football, she was against it and had an eat what you kill approach that has the program cash poor.

UM finally has a real head coach and a budget for a staff and with a real recruiter like Mario at the helm, the talent will return and the Canes will get back to pumping out kids into the league.

All that to say, Josh Gattis is a bad cultural fit for this program and he proved this year that it's his way or the highway, while he'll push his system (and fail) until he has the right guys to make it work—which in turn will prevent Miami from getting the right-fit players it need to build a winning offense.

Gattis might've worked five years down the road with a loaded roster, but his stylings aren't a fit for Miami in its current form and the Canes are going to need more innovation on offense if they're going to recruit top-flight talent on that side of the ball.

Toss in the chatter about personality conflicts with Gattis, shutting out Ponce, posturing like he's the smartest guy in the room, bus rolling his players, et al—Mario has a real cancer on his hands here culture-wise with a wrong-fit offensive coordinator and here's hoping he stops the bleeding effective tomorrow.z

As for the "orange and green glasses" it's not even that. You have a disgruntled fan base that is tired of being irrelevant and tired of so many false starts the past 16 years. Unfortunately Mario is paying the price for that impatience, as too many fans ran their mouths during the off-season, wanting Miami to be "back" and thinking it'd be turnkey—just adding him and a high-priced staff—doing some dumb transitive property nonsensical math, telling themselves that 7-5 should've easily resulting in "a few more wins" this year simply be the new hires and punting on Diaz.

All that "Coastal or Bust!" nonsense for a program that's won the Coastal once and never won the ACC since joining in 2004. The Canes ALWAYS choke away winnable in conference games to laser teams yet that was just supposed to change overnight because of a new staff?

Cristobal had a rough go of year one and now he needs to look himself in the mirror with all that went wrong this year and needs to make the necessary off-season changes to set himself up for a bounce-back year in 2023. Send the wrong-fit kids packing, poach new ones from the portal, close strong on the recruiting trail and shake up any aspects of the staff that were a wrong fit this fall.

Yes let’s keep Mario as a recruiting coordinator and find a coach that fits modern times. Love Mario great Cane but average coach…sorry😩
He's a terrible game day coach.

Here's what I want to know. Why did he really jump from Golden's staff before he even started? People always talk about loyalty, and at the time people blamed Golden, but Mario went to freaking Alabama, the team that just happened to be benefitting most from our "cloud". Saban was/is extremely tight with Emritt, and Mario went there just to recruit. Why does Mario get a pass for this move? He stabbed UM in the back big time, and people are ok with that, simply because they disliked Golden? Mario is a self serving con man who's only loyalty is to himself.

Bash away. I'm about to open a bottle of 50 year old corn whiskey and won't care. :)

I mean... I really can't blame the guy for wanting to work at the premier CFB program. No chance he gets back to head coaching so quickly if he's stuck toiling away under Al Golden.

Not taking my orange and green glasses off....period.
My profile pic stays.

Gattis and likely Ponce will leave for other jobs. There probably won't be some dramatic firing or anything else. Then we'll get a better OC that the geniuses here will blame.

Mario has never been a good gameday coach

Poorly coached team. MTSU and Duke losses supports the narrative.

Landing a bunch of stars doesn’t change the anemic coaching, concepts, strategies, preparation and execution.
This is true. But we also won't become elite by becoming Wake Forest with good X & O teachers who can't recruit or truly build and delegate a program at the highest level. The answer is finding a balance within the staff itself that falls within the overall culture you're trying to build. Getting rid of Gattis/Ponce is step 1 of that process.
