Surprising Shocking UM Passing Statistics and more

It’s crazy how old a lot of UM’s offensive records are when the game has become so much more offense friendly over the years. ****, they used to only play 11 regular season games and bowl game stats didn’t count.

Decades of outdated offensive philosophies turned one of the most innovative programs into one of the most conservative. Kosar and Walsh were great quarterbacks but how many great schools have 40 year old passing records?
it is a testament to how much we have SUCKED for the last 2 decades

Did you know that for the one season he was healthy in the NFL (1996), Chris T. Jones had 70 catches and 51 of them were first downs?

Dawson wasnt a duo run guy so Mario does have some influence.. Nothing wrong with that as long as they marry the concepts well and lean on what works most..
This. The run blocking scheme is still very much what Mario wants to do. We haven’t gone to a full zone scheme like pretty much every other Air Raid system.

Bingo…. People in offseason were wondering if Cam was the truth and I brought up his stats last year and how it would’ve been most passing yards, total yards & total TDs EVER in a single season by a UM QB.

Not shocking though considering Miami hasn’t had a QB drafted above round 6 in since 90s

It's good for the program if he sets all the records. Everyone should want this to happen.
That is why Miami went all in, even after he declared for NFL…. They never let up. It’s an investment for the future, not only for our next QB but for our next conference. This is why we delayed the practice facility breaking ground…. Allocating the funds to eventually make 10X

At least to me.....

No Miami Hurricanes QB has ever thrown 30 TDs in a season!!!! I had no idea and this was shocking to me. The record is 29 Pass TDs in the 1988 season by Steve Walsh.

I know @DMoney has mentioned this lately but the UM record for most passing yards in a season is 3,642 yards set in 1984 by Bernie Kosar. I was surprised that this record has been standing for nearly 40 years. Would be nice for Cam Ward to break both of these single season passing records this season.

With Xavier Restrepo taking aim at the career receptions record as well as the career receiving yards record this year I thought it would be interesting to pose the following question..........

Based on this WRs standing in the career receptions list, the career yardage list and where he stands on the career receiving TDs list who would you say is the most criminally underrated WR in Miami Hurricanes history? The answer is clear. This WR had an absolutely stellar career at UM but he is rarely mentioned when the subject of our all time great WRs comes up. Maybe it's because he never won a Championship. Who knows the answer? I'll give the answer in this thread if nobody beats me to it.

I think what typically gets lost between the big highlight plays passing over the last 30 years, it's over looked that we have had pro style offenses for eons. The record books are littered with Miami RBs and TEs. Very few WRs and QBs. Add in scoring defenses and its easy to over look we are an efficient passing program.

I've mentioned this before but massive props to Mario for learning, growing and developing. This is a different Mario than we saw at Oregon. He has the opportunity to develop into an excellent coach and I'll be rooting for him to do exactly that!

The bomb was the one. Just brutal. Lmao
What I'm asking is if we tried the same play twice in a row. We had the ball at around midfield and on the first play from scrimmage we went deep to Dorsett in the end zone and he dropped it. My question is did we try it again on the next play? I think we did and he dropped the second one too IIRC.

It's OK man. I just rewatched the beginning and it wasn't back to back plays. Dorsett dropped the bomb on the 1st play then later in the drive Morris tried to hit him in the end zone again and he dropped that as well.
