I’m guessing you’re talking about Coley. He’s never mentioned as a top UM WR, but I’m pretty sure he’s top 5 in a couple categories. At least to me.....
No Miami Hurricanes QB has ever thrown 30 TDs in a season!!!! I had no idea and this was shocking to me. The record is 29 Pass TDs in the 1988 season by Steve Walsh.
I know @DMoney has mentioned this lately but the UM record for most passing yards in a season is 3,642 yards set in 1984 by Bernie Kosar. I was surprised that this record has been standing for nearly 40 years. Would be nice for Cam Ward to break both of these single season passing records this season.
With Xavier Restrepo taking aim at the career receptions record as well as the career receiving yards record this year I thought it would be interesting to pose the following question..........
Based on this WRs standing in the career receptions list, the career yardage list and where he stands on the career receiving TDs list who would you say is the most criminally underrated WR in Miami Hurricanes history? The answer is clear. This WR had an absolutely stellar career at UM but he is rarely mentioned when the subject of our all time great WRs comes up. Maybe it's because he never won a Championship. Who knows the answer? I'll give the answer in this thread if nobody beats me to it.
Stacy Coley is exactly right!I’m guessing you’re talking about Coley. He’s never mentioned as a top UM WR, but I’m pretty sure he’s top 5 in a couple categories.
No. Reggie Wayne is always rightfully mentioned as one of our all time greats. The Wayne and Moss tandem will go down as one of the best of all time!Reggie Wayne for me. Never won a championship, didn’t have elite speed, just got open and caught the ball.
X will get mentioned when his years are done and he is producing on Sundays.
Amazing numbers for a guy who couldn't stay on the field for 3 consecutive plays without getting banged up.Stacy Coley is exactly right!
Coley is #3 in career receptions with 166
Coley is #5 in career yards with 2,218
Coley is tied for 4th with 20 career TD receptions with Reggie Wayne and Andre Johnson.
I think people set wild expectations for him coming out of HS. When he didn’t break every record they called him a bust. He definitely set the record for most times hobbling off the field though. Coley was a good college WR.Stacy Coley is exactly right!

Wonder where Eddie Brown stands in those stats?
And regardless of all that hobbling the career he had can't be argued or taken away from him. Amazing what may have been if he could have been less injury prone. Phenomenal talent.I think people set wild expectations for him coming out of HS. When he didn’t break every record they called him a bust. Cavet is game is not the same in many ways.
29 Pass TDs in '88 is like 40 now...
Berrios is on the PhinsIf it is a recent WR. I'd say either T. Benjamin or B. Barrios. Love both their games. They had cups of coffee in the NFL. Benjamin more so than Braxton.
I remember that. Wasn't that 2 drops in a row by Dorsett on the same bomb type play? Didn't we open with an onside kick and recover it?I loved watching Hankerson and Dorsett at UM but man that Dorsett ND drop for all time will bother me![]()
The bomb was the one. Just brutal. LmaoI remember that. Wasn't that 2 drops in a row by Dorsett on the same bomb type play? Didn't we open with an onside kick and recover it?
Easy moneyXavier Restrepo needs 38 catches to break the career receptions record of 182 held by Mike Harley.
Restrepo needs 567 yards to break the career receiving yards record of 2,546 held by Santana Moss.
Absolutely true but my surprise stems from exactly the point you're making. You would think that those records would have fallen in this modern era of glorified Flag football/CFL/Video game type of offensive output. I think it's a referendum on how behind the times UM has been offensively.Back in the day, they hit the QB almost every play.. now you can't breathe on them. WRs got decapitated Tamarick Vanover style ...
.. different game, kinda like the trying to compare the NBA teams from yesteryear.
