Surprised By The Reaction In Athens?

I hope we can all get together and treat him just as well. He's our coach whether you like it or not. Personally, Richt was my favorite - he's nearly a perfect fit. I want the dude to find success and be remembered as a Cane 5-10 years from now, or however long he stays. Mark by all accounts is an outstanding human being. I think when he's making SFL RB's into savage Heisman winners in a few years everyone will be on board with him.

Get out of butch's *** already. Who made this guy bear Bryant. Do u remember the banner from champs to chump?? Enough with this butch is the savior. The guy hasn't sniffed a coaching job in 5 years--and prob won't get another coaching gig. Yes I loved those butch teams but the guy was a horrible game day coach.

I agree about his game day, it would cost us a game a year. And will probably not coach again now. But what teams we are talking about. They are reason enough for me. We will never see that again.
 
I was very lukewarm on the hire yesterday (was more relieved that we didn't hire Schiano) but I have to admit, Richt is growing on me with everything I've been reading over the last 24 hours.

FSU is bringing almost everyone back next year, so they will be tough to beat. I think as long as we're competitive and don't blow the game for the wrong reasons, like with Al, people won't overreact to a (close) loss.

Maybe. We might still be in post Al giddiness. But we have the QB and closer coaching talent. I am Butch guy, but I think Mark beats them first year. Remember, no Al or Coley to stop the offense from scoring.

Id be extremely happy to have a coach that can get us to the big one at this point. Maybe he will be inspired when he gets there again. Better than hiring coaches who havent even coached in big ones. Some of the best strategies are developed after getting the experience and failing. Lately we fail in all of the ones. Small and big.
 
If I had to guess based on the reaction of friends and randoms on FB, I'd put it at less than a quarter of the fanbase actually wanting Mark gone. No banners were flown, the worst that happened was some dude painted the side of his barn to say something about missing expectations again. The firing was taken very poorly by the pool of people I've seen.

Along those lines - I was at the gym last night and a guy saw me in my UM gear. Said "you're welcome for Richt." We chatted for a minute, he loved Mark, but hates the Kirby hire. Wrong guy for the team and some other stuff.

Yeah me too pretty much. Now I'm feeling our program is in a really good place. It can only get better and winning strong again will be fun.
