Thread 'Miami drops Super Regional opener 8-1 to Louisville'

In their first Super Regional since 2016, the Miami Hurricanes stood two wins away from Omaha with only the Louisville Cardinals standing in their way.

And while the Hurricanes hoped to get one step closer to their goal, they were surely kept in place as Louisville took a commanding 8-1 win in the opener.

Louisville was dominant on both sides of the ball with Patrick Forbes going five and two-thirds innings with nine strikeouts while the offense took charge with plenty of hard hits across the diamond, spearheaded by third baseman Jake Munroe’s two homer day.

Tough to lose such a critical game on virtually one bad throw. I know there’s more to it than that, but also that was kind of it.

JD's pitching changes, or lack thereof, are often head-sratchers, no doubt. But Ciscar throws a lot of DP's and if you pull him, do you start burning your core relievers down 3 and their ace going?

Peralta's mental error actually ****es me off more than Ciscar's.

That’s because he’s most likely the worst every day starter in the history of UM baseball - and it’s frustrating as **** he continues being run out there. Kid sucks balls. Add mental errors to his lack of ability and I could see why they would be more frustrating than Ciscar’s throw. I’ve seen jv level players with more ability than Peralta..

Terrible game all around. Yet it objectively could've been flipped. Ciscar makes a routine play = five runs less and if we plate any of those 12 left on base we're suddenly leading.

Alot of what ifs that don't mean jack since we didn't come through, but at least its factual optimism heading into tomorrows game
 
Saw 79% of the teams since 1999 that win game 1 wins the series

We gotta be apart of the 21%, I know we can do it, Alabama and Southern Miss was better teams

Just going to have to play clean and timely baseball, can’t leave 12 on base tomorrow and expect to win tomorrow though

Ogden and Cuvet have to man up and come through tomorrow as well

Jump on them early, and give Hugus breathing room
