That VaTech sure didn’t look like they can beat UVA.
I actually disagree with that take Virginia is not that good of a team to begin with. It’s a rivalry game so Virginia Tech will be ready and maybe James Franklin can sneak in the building this week and give him a little bit of help lolThat VaTech sure didn’t look like they can beat UVA.
Only real longshot is the Cal game.Miami reaches ACC Championship Game if ...
In this scenario, Virginia (7-1 in ACC) and Miami (6-2) go to Charlotte with four-way tiebreaker advantages over Georgia Tech/Pitt/SMU.
- Beats Virginia Tech and Pitt
- Virginia beats Virginia Tech
- Pitt beats Georgia Tech, Duke beats North Carolina, SMU beats Louisville
- Cal beats SMU, Wake Forest beats Duke
Is there a path to play SMU?Miami reaches ACC Championship Game if ...

Va Tech beats Virginia
Wouldn't we play SMU in the ACCCG?

I agree with you 100% I could give two ***** about being in the ACC championship gameIDGAF about the ACCCG any more. Taint didn't play in the BiG conference championship and won it all. That's what matter.
We're 13th in the CFP rankings and need to get to at least 11th to be confident we'll make the playoffs. That should happen if we have dominant wins against VT and Pitt.
Theyll be playing for first impressions with FranklinGood news is VA Tech is still pating hard and has not quit
Please explainUpdate: if Cal beats Stanford tonight, then our Virginia paths are eliminated. Virginia Tech would be a must.
Well, what now?Another poster put together a fantastic spreadsheet laying out all the possibilities. But with the high prevalance of ADHD not being able to follow all of that, I put together a guide to understanding exactly what we need to happen:
MUSTS:
We must win both games.
Pittsburgh must beat Georgia Tech.
THIS WEEKEND:
This one is tricky, because the Virginia-Va Tech game next weekend is actually more important.
Virginia winning that game only gives us 91 paths to the ACCCG (out of 512 possibilities). Va Tech winning gives us 187 paths. So we should want Va Tech.
However, since Virginia is likely to win that game, it changes what we should want this weekend.
If we think Virginia is going to win, Louisville beating SMU keeps 77 of those 91 paths open. SMU beating Louisville gives us just 14 paths.
So....if Virginia wins NEXT weekend, we want Louisville THIS weekend. If SMU beats Louisville this weekend, then we really need Virginia Tech to beat Virginia.
And we want North Carolina to beat Duke.
So root for Louisville and UNC. That's it.
Well, what now?
Why do we care about Duke? They already have 2 conference losses and we're ranked ahead of them.I think we would also need Wake to beat Duke
I mean look, this is what being a fan is all about. Sorry if being in the mix upsets the rest of the board. Personally I love where we stand and this is fun.SMU>Cal
Duke>Wake
NC St.>UNC (Matters if Duke Wins)
VT>UVA
Beat Pitt
MIAMI/SMU
Conference opponent win %.Why do we care about Duke? They already have 2 conference losses and we're ranked ahead of them.
