Summarizing our ACC needs

Another poster put together a fantastic spreadsheet laying out all the possibilities. But with the high prevalance of ADHD not being able to follow all of that, I put together a guide to understanding exactly what we need to happen:

MUSTS:
We must win both games.
Pittsburgh must beat Georgia Tech.

THIS WEEKEND:
This one is tricky, because the Virginia-Va Tech game next weekend is actually more important.
Virginia winning that game only gives us 91 paths to the ACCCG (out of 512 possibilities). Va Tech winning gives us 187 paths. So we should want Va Tech.
However, since Virginia is likely to win that game, it changes what we should want this weekend.
If we think Virginia is going to win, Louisville beating SMU keeps 77 of those 91 paths open. SMU beating Louisville gives us just 14 paths.
So....if Virginia wins NEXT weekend, we want Louisville THIS weekend. If SMU beats Louisville this weekend, then we really need Virginia Tech to beat Virginia.
And we want North Carolina to beat Duke.

So root for Louisville and UNC. That's it.

Exactly. The schedule is watered down and teams that don’t belong end up there. See Virginia and Duke. Miami would curb stomp both those teams into oblivion if we played.

IDGAF about the ACCCG any more. Taint didn't play in the BiG conference championship and won it all. That's what matter.

We're 13th in the CFP rankings and need to get to at least 11th to be confident we'll make the playoffs. That should happen if we have dominant wins against VT and Pitt.

I understand how math and probability works. My point is there shouldn’t be 512 possible combinations of how a conference can be decided with 2 weeks to play. The reason there are is because it’s one big blob of 17 teams, which is ridiculous.

Personally, I want the path to the CFP. Making the ACC championship game gives us another game in a very long stretch due to the stupid way the bye weeks were assigned this season. In the end, making the CFP at large makes the ACC championship redundant imo.

True and false.
There's a scenario where SMU can win 1, or actually win both, which may be our best path.

This week:
Pitt>GT
Duke>UNC
SMU>UL

Next week:
Wake>Duke
SMU>Cal (it matters)
VT>UVA
NC St.>UNC (yes, it matters)

Miami/SMU in the ACCCG.

This is just another, of many, as the OP posted.
If Pitt happens, the biggest dog is VT. Hoping for the delayed Franklin effect there.

In other scenarios Stanford>Cal, SU>BC matter.
