In all seriousness I’d prefer a known quantity but maybe he’s good and actually known to Mongo and others. Is there anyone on here who is familiar with him? @AlexCane @Ironmanfootball

I don’t know anything about him. I used to be really tight with a guy that was very connected to that community but haven’t seen him in a while.

He has a master’s degree in exercise science from Cumberland so that’s a plus. There’s a lot of folks in this space that have no academic credential which I believe should be a must.

I take it that Young has primarily been the lead strength and conditioning coach the last few weeks/months. The players seem to rally behind him, which is extremely important. This transition has clearly been in the works for a while now, so stop whining about it. Also, as long as we continue to recruit at a high level, we really should have no problems with our strength and conditioning. I don't understand why this is such an issue for you

It is a massive time commitment. Pay is excellent. He picked more time over more pay. Good luck to him.

FWIW, and I'll just put this out there:

Job experience =\= being a good OC/DC and most definitely a good S&C coordinator. It genuinely, wholeheartedly doesn't mean **** in that department.

Seemed like more of a hype man and personal security guard for Cristobal more than anything else. I mean our guys seem fit and ready but it was kinda weird to see him on the sidelines every game.

The comparison from the first day Mario arrived at UM until now is night-and-day.

Granted, many guys are "new", but the approach and methodology has been improved greatly over the last few years.

Look, man, you are losing the battle here.

Why? Because the use of the term "coordinator" in this respect is a way to accentuate the PAY, and really doesn't have much to do with THE JOB.

For decades, the S&C job was a COACH. Real "coordinators" (offense/defense) coordinated one side of the playcalling and the position coaches that are related to that side of the ball.

You didn't really have a Special Teams COORDINATOR ("coach") in much the same way that you didn't have a Strength & Conditioning COORDINATOR.

But more recently, with finding a need to pay higher salaries, and/or building larger and more specialized staffs for S&C, the title "coordinator" is being used more frequently than "coach". But let's not pretend that the job of an S&C COORDINATOR is at quite the same level as an OC or a DC, at least in your ability to "analyze his past job descriptions and titles" in order to form an opinion on whether he is qualified and/or ready to do the job.

Also, don't act like he got "promoted" at UM just because Feld "left" in the past week. Feld pretty much told Mario he was stepping down months ago. To the extent that he was given one job title and then "elevated", it was more about preserving the timing of the announcment for Feld. But this has been known for longer than one week.

Having said all of that, how would you evaluate the Gators' "Game Changer Coordinator"? Did he have to work as a "Game Changer Coach" first?
