stop this guy and it's a wrap for notre dame

Didn’t run for over 50 yards against any top 50 ranked defenses except Indiana who was suspect at best.

100 yard games against

Purdue
Army
Navy
UVA
Indiana (98 of his 108 on one play)

Went 14-36 against GT
11-34 against Louisville
9-19 against FSU

I think he’s a real good back but too many watched that play against Penn State and are anointing him the next S Barkley.
He definitely padded a lot of his numbers against weaker competition. Another thing to note is that he never got more than 16 carries in a game. He only averaged ten per game. Riley Leonard was their workhorse last year. Love was more of a change of pace guy who took advantage of teams keying too much on Leonard. I’m interested to see if Notre Dame is going to give Carr such a heavy workload while continuing use Love as a second and sometimes third option.

He is definitely capable of breaking a long run at any time but he’s not the guy who beats a team by himself.

What? CJ Carr isn’t a runner. If he’s the starter, the offense will be completely different than it looked with Riley, and Love will be the centerpiece. They’ll use 3 backs because all are good but Love is their best player and will be treated as such. This is a pretty silly post.

Looking at stats is fool’s gold.
Did you actually watch him play,
In those games you mention he had multiple TDs (at least one in every game). So a 3 yard TD in your stats is 1 carry for 3 yards. But it doesn’t tell you the reality, does it? Same on 4th & 2, and getting 3.
Love had an injury last year & ND used him a lot in spot situations. He still averaged close to 7 yards per carry.
He injured his leg in the final game of the regular season at USC & had 99 yards at halftime. (Notice you didn’t mention that?)
He sat at the 2nd half & was barely used after that because of the injury.
If you actually watched the playoffs you would hear them talking about Love being injured & ND not using him much.
He only averaged about 11-12 touches a game, but still over 100 yards.
Now that Riley Leonard is gone, (who averaged almost as many rushes per game as Love), ND says they are going to get Love more touches.
I wouldn’t state at stats too much. It’s for lazy people who don’t understand football.

This kid run around you, run over you or jump over you. He was 215, but looks lighter so he is probably ready to lite this year up. He will put his helmet crown in your sternum and just explode into the defender, keeping his feet moving. He will run around you with 4.4 speed, don't let him turn the corner. You better keep your head up when tackling him, the camera doesn't lie, he likes leaping over defenders. Right now, I have him as the top RB entering the 26 draft. He's nice. Load the box while playing man come Aug. 31st.
suck my dick GIF

Load the box and play man sounds like what you want to do to this guy. Wow.

Against 3 common opponents he averaged 2.6, 3.1, and 2. Unless you’re telling me he had double digit TDs in those games a 3 yd TD isn’t gonna affect your YPC when you go 14-36. As comparison D Martinez averaged 5.4, 9.9, 7.4 against those same squads. Different runners obviously but those numbers don’t lie.

And lol at USC and their 74th ranking in YPC against.

But you’re right sometimes stats do lie. But sometimes they show 2 of 3 common opponents who couldn’t stop us shut down this supposed heisman front runner top 5 pick holding him to 2-3 YPC. I would have said 3 of 3 but we abandoned the run in the GT game. Half of his seasons yardage came in those 100 yard games against 2 service academies, Purdue (120’s ranking in rushing defense stats), UVA (54th rushing defense). He did have a good game against Indiana that had a top 10 defense but got exposed in the 2 games against quality offenses they played.

Hes a good back that can hurt you if he gets free. But hes not a 20-25 carry guy who’s gonna control the game.

I just don't think he will be a very big problem. I see him like the Wake Forest running back from last season. Very good, but we can handle him.
Better OL though which makes him dangerous who can hurt you on any given play. That said I think their youth at QB and this being a home game for us negates some of that.

Well, while that is absolutely true, we weren’t anything like a top 50 defense last year…😂😂 I’ll stick with the tackling advice which we all expect, as always, vast improvement with this year.

We were #19 in rushing defense last year.

Granted, that comes with factors such as many of our games were shootouts and teams could pass at will against us, but, they didn’t generally run at will against us.

Except when Guidry lined the DTs up over the OTs and had the C & Gs uncovered on 3rd and 1 like he did against Louisville. Really fooled them when Chaney went up the middle for 20.
