Whoa...

The Wall Street Journal today had a good article about the CFP. Out of 28 slots since the CFP's inception, Bama and Clemson been there 6 times each, OSU and Oklahoma 4 each. Steve Spurrier was quoted in the article. He noted that in the NFL, losing teams get high draft picks. In college football, Bama gets the first 10 picks in the first round, the first 10 in the second round, and then the first 5 in the third round. Other colleges pick from what's left over. Although exaggerating, he made a good point. Getting into the CFP gives teams exposure with the best high-school talent. The Bowl Championship Series and then the CFP have made all the other bowls irrelevant. Who really cares about the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl or even formerly prestigious bowls such as the Cotton Bowl? Getting into the CFP sets up a virtuous cycle that enables Bama, Clemson, OSU and Oklahoma to reload year after year. The money isn't bad either. The $millions that they rake in pays for top coaches like Saban, Dabo and Meyers who attract the best players.

I never once said anything about physical violence. I seen alot of posts on these sites calling other posters mopes and defending the coaches as well as blaming whichever player you can name that's not performed. We need to cut the crap. These coaches need to be called out for holding on to their homies and family while we descend further into mediocrity. Its not ok.

Are you feeling guilty or something? I didn’t mention you by name, nor accuse you

Without So FL for recruiting, we would be Pitt Panthers.

Some might argue (a post yesterday) that we're headed for Pitt territory exactly because of the way we've been recruiting So FL; looking for those old type dogs and somehow failing to notice year after year, it's a different type of player here today.

The quality payers leave for programs they see that might have a chance at winning them a NC ring, rather than a program they see can't win 10 games or a week Coastal Division.

Other schools that do more with less have players who are getting big bowl wins and leaving to become Wall street bankers and insurance salesman.

As a former long-time Wall Street banker, what are these programs you're speaking of sending guys to Wall Street?

The list sending guys to Wall Street that have a blue blood football program and not named Stanford are basically Notre Dame, Michigan, Texas, Penn State, Florida, USC and Miami.

I assure you, no one from Clemson or Alabama is getting a Wall Street job straight out of school.

Mack Brown has exactly ONE more W at UNC than Manny has at Miami.
Yeah and zero drubbings and embarrassment. Almost beat #1 Clemson, in his first season. Only been there for 2 seasons and is playing in the OB after destroying Manny at home. Oh yeah and they were 2-8 when he got there and we are talking about UNC.

The present culture is all Manny’s....it will take the big money givers to complain for a change to improve this program.

No it won't. It is really simple actually:

1. Fire Blake James.
2. Hire a competent AD with passion and autonomy (e.g. Danny White).
3. Everyone else stay the *** away from athletics.

You will be SHOCKED what will happen simply from making this change. We haven't had competence and leadership from the AD position since ___________. Let's try something different.

Since Sam Jankovich, RIP... a man who brought 7 national titles to the Univ of Miami

Apparently you missed him losing to quite possibly the worst FSU team of the last half century.

Calling out all Miami fans who have started to accept the unacceptable. Winning programs start losing for extended periods and it becomes the norm, nothing is unacceptable, everything can be explained and blamed on some ambiguity. USC didn't win a title between 1978-2004, 26 years. We are not far off that. Soon enough the fans forget what excellence was for the program. Without So FL for recruiting, we would be Pitt Panthers. Coaches are not geniuses, i don't expect them to be, i wanna see them learn and make changes. Al Golden, Mark Richt and now Manny Diaz have all used favoritism and friendship and family to hamper our coaching staffs instead of making changes and tweaks until they have the right staff in place throughout the program. Blake James allows it by giving them total autonomy. We are the last line of defense. Stop accepting, Stop blaming the players, make no mistake, anytime you hear these coaches talk about culture needs to change....that's what they are doing. Its politician speak. Mack Brown didn't need to change any culture at UNC after they went 2-8. They had horrible coaches
And for all those who think its unreasonable, answer me this, if you just left a bad relationship and your new girlfriend...or boyfriend if you like that, is not working out as well, would u be more incline to keep that person longer or would u keep changing until you find the right person? We need to keep changing coaches until we find the right one. Supporting the coaches is not the same as supporting the players. If Manny Diaz doesn't make any changes to the defensive staff, meaningful changes, he needs to go. Pronto

I didn't miss that at all. That was them showing up sleep walking for a qtr and half. He still had more positives than bad overall since he been there. 2 years and they in the OB after coming into an 2-8 team. Its their trajectory that mstters not any individual result.
