Stop ******* around. We all know Lane is the guy.

I like the idea of Lane if Mario doesn’t want it. Lane also has a Heisman caliber QB which helps. We got some talent at that position ready to go so his O would prob be clicking day 1.

Here's the concern with Lane Kiffin.

Lane goes to Tennessee.
He leaves Tennessee for USC after 1 season. USC is undeniably the better job.

Lane goes to Alabama to be OC.
He leaves Alabama to be HC at FAU after 3 years because HC is a better job than OC.
He leaves FAU for Ole Miss after 3 years because HC at Ole Miss is a better job than HC at FAU.
*Lane leaves Ole Miss for Miami after 2 years (presumably) because HC at Miami is a better job than HC at Ole Miss.

So here's the problem. We aren't at the top of ANY food chain. Lane has proven he's always looking for bigger and better. I can't fault him for making any of those moves. But is getting 3 years of Lane and hearing his name every time a bigger job opens up worth having to do this all over again?
I'm not holding a HC's ambition against him.

Just win.

If Mario isn't your first call, you might as well not even call him. He isn't about to the be 2nd (3rd, 4th) choice after he was already snubbed a few times.

There's other guys I would rather, but we can certainly do a lot worse. Make Mario say no. If he comes, he is the guy for the next 20 years.

There should be only one page. Hire someone competent. Give them everything they need and get out of the way. None of this we're targeting this guy and we'd love it if you wanted that coach too.
Bill Clark should be the guy. Literally took a dead program and second year back won his conference, won his conference 2 out of the last three years and the other year played in the conference championship game, 2018 Eddie Robinson coach of the year, has won everywhere he's been. He's a winner period.

Huh? Lane had winning seasons every year at USC (plus his year at UT)
Exactly. That is one myth about Kiffin. People act like he went 0-13 at Tennessee and 2-40 at his time at USC. I think he underperformed/failed at USC with all that talent, but its not like he bombed anywhere but the NFL. Had one losing season at FAU. I'm not saying he's an elite coach, but he has matured since his USC days and is trending up.

Lane can't recruit for ****

its the one knock on him I'm legitimately scared of

go look at his classes at Ole Miss
