Stop ******* around. We all know Lane is the guy.

Folks, let me add some realism here:
  • Manny and staff buyouts = $5M approx.
  • Mario minimum salary = $7M appor.
  • Mario buyout = $10M
  • New staff salaries = $8-10M
Do you think Miami is going to dish out $30M+ like that? I dont. But I hope I am wrong. I think Kiffin Stoops or similar are more likely.
No. I’ve been steadfast about what needs to happen..Get Blake out the building, hire a New Ad..let that AD decide on his guy..and it might be manny for 1 szn..If he does that, restructure that contract in Miami’s favor..we have to get this right..can’t just make a change for change sake imo..it has to make sense. It has to be a top option..if that top option isn’t available..please please let’s not end up with a plan c

Here's the concern with Lane Kiffin.

Lane goes to Tennessee.
He leaves Tennessee for USC after 1 season. USC is undeniably the better job.

Lane goes to Alabama to be OC.
He leaves Alabama to be HC at FAU after 3 years because HC is a better job than OC.
He leaves FAU for Ole Miss after 3 years because HC at Ole Miss is a better job than HC at FAU.
*Lane leaves Ole Miss for Miami after 2 years (presumably) because HC at Miami is a better job than HC at Ole Miss.

So here's the problem. We aren't at the top of ANY food chain. Lane has proven he's always looking for bigger and better. I can't fault him for making any of those moves. But is getting 3 years of Lane and hearing his name every time a bigger job opens up worth having to do this all over again?

That's what CIS insiders will lead you to expect

Where did I say Kiffin??....He's not coming anyway...
Good. I don’t want his weird *** lol. Smh bro I just don’t get the hype. With him nor Mario. Unless they come with stipulations. With mario that archaic *** offense he is running in Eugene..if he comes he gotta leave that bs up there…with kiffin, he needs to take a **** test every week and not neglect the defensive side of the ball

Lanes ultimate goal is the NFL..but idk how it makes sense for us here. We need someone who wants to be here, and wants to build here..and has a track record of doing so

How is that possible when there isn't even a new AD? What if lets say Tom Jurich gets hired and thinks Lane Kiffin or Aranda or someone else is the better option? The Mario faction is gonna tell an established a AD what to do? Whats the point in hiring him then?
I totally agree.
I think they will try to do it the proper way this time around.

Unless the new AD is another beta the university has to let him make the decision. He is the one who will live with the new coach and be responsible for his success/failure.

What competent reputable AD would want to come to a place where the administration wouldn't let him make the most impactful decision of his career?

That's the concern, isn't it?

The HC for the football team is the biggest appointment any AD makes. I can't imagine the best candidates are going to take too kindly to "yeah, we're hiring Mario. Good luck with scheduling the womens' volleyball team".

The one thing I liked about Manny is he was never going to leave. UM was his final destination. That would be the same for Mario. Lane is enticing, but is he lured to Bama when D!ck Satan retires in a couple.
I always want my coaches to have bigger ambitions. If Bama lures Lane, that is great....which means he is incredible successful and worthy of replacing the GOAT

Mario has something good going on in Oregon, with lower expectations there, and Nike money. He might have more of a chance to realistically get to the playoffs there than the ACC. They're the dominant team now. I've heard his wife hates it there though, at least from some of the posts here, so who knows. Miami, with the right coach, has everything needed to win.
I don’t get where all this lower expectations garbage comes from at Oregon. If you lose there you are gone.

Lane is a good coach but he will have a lot of suitors this offseason. Plus, if it's a bidding war Ole Miss has more money than UM. Trust me on that. But LSU and possibly UF will pursue Lane. That would be a tough pull.

lanes a better football mind than mario in my opinion

dudes an offensive guru that just needs a semi competent defensive coordinator. Even without one we'll be averaging 40+ points a game and in the ACC championship EVERY season.

I just don't see such a guarantee with mario, a guy that is beating up on lousy pac 10 teams with zero competition out there. He went in and beat ohio state, which is nice but that's not urban meyer's OSU any more.

@Heart of The Playmaker @SWFLHurricane man I see y’all fellas..what’s y’all issue with James Franklin?
Dude thinks he is an elite coach and he is nowhere near that. I called it before he was at Pedo state. He is 10-9 in his last 19 games...Record against Ohio State (1-7), Michigan (3-5) and Michigan State (3-4) is a combined 7-16.
His pedo state Record vs top 10 opponents is 2-11 and the 2 wins came in 2016....
20-18 homecoming loss to 24-point underdog Illinois a few weeks ago...
His record is 6-4 and losing record in conference.

This is at a school with huge resources and advantages over almost every other school in northeast...

Hard Pass
