Off-Topic Stock Market & Crypto Discussion

Their fixed internet revenue last yr was like $25B. Starlinks was $11B. Xfinity has their own MVNO they've been working on obviously, Starlink is trying to do the same except the big 3 don't want to allow SpaceX to lease towers/spectrum/data. Xfinity doesn't own any towers or spectrum I don't believe, they're like what Metro was.

Will be very interesting to monitor the MNO space. SpaceX is primed to make some acquisitiond if they want to truly compete head on. Otherwise just some deals, to in turn provide sat connectivity DTC in exchange for leasing towers. Starlink want a 1 stop internet shop solution. You go with Starlink for Fixed/Mobile/Cell internet anywhere in the world with zero dead zones. In fact the areas that are more "dead" traditionally you actually get the best speeds.... Is that worth $200/month for 2 lines + $40/additional line? Imagine you buy the standard dish to your house, get a mini dish for travel/emergency, and have full sat phone capability....

Read something about SpaceX buying T-Mobile

Would make sense since partners already

If I'm SpaceX I think what I'm doing is trying to buy Anterix/NextNav/OmniSpace/Viasat today.. or as many as you can first two would provide consolidated low band US coverage. Later two provide global coverage. Or they could/should just buy more Echostar spectrum. Then from there they could lease space on the towers to install their own 5G in urban areas to improve speeds.

Thing about T-Mobile is they are strongest big3. they're owned >50% by Deutsche Telekom out of Germany who have said they aren't selling, and if anything likely want to buy more. Also pretty sure they have the largest actual coverage in the US and would probably cost like >$300B? It's likely the best actual MNO to buy/merge with of course. If the plan was to buy a stake and get access that and just be an MVNO and be stronger partners, this would make a lot of short term sense.

verizon is probably 2nd best to acquire. And I'm pretty sure their spectrum ownership would fit in well, and it's a very pure MNO acquisition. At&t just has way too much debt. But I could see how At&t would make the most sense if that wasn't the case. They did spin off their media side recently I think, but their Fixed Broadband isjt useful imo. Though their contract as the emergency service provider actually imo first with Starlink nicely, but that also comes with strings attached and likely makes acquisition harder too...

Didn't Dish buy up some spectrum? Or they Echostar? I try to keep up

Opposite. Echostar owns Dish. But Echostar is selling off all/most of its spectrum assets. SpaceX bought $17B of mid band spectrum. They’re selling like $23B of low+mid band to AT&T. Also think they may send Dish into bankruptcy. DirectTV offered to buy it for like $10B but then backed out, but maybe that ends up happening.

Then again maybe there is no more for SpaceX to buy from Echostar due to fcc issues that would occur.

Like I said NextNav/Anterix/OmniSpace are probably most realistic.

One of the big 3 MNOs is interesting, and I did think it was possible, but ultimately I think they’ll view the investment as not worth it vs just spending on AI…. Smaller more targeted spectrum buys and leasing/colocating towers is better

Verizon made around $50B last year and AWS made $50B. Between Starlink and Starmind, SpaceX could be looking at $100B/yr of profits. Add in billions from space launches and the fact AWS doesn't host AI models... SpaceX could be the most profitable company in 5-10 years. First, they have to get the beast working so they can launch the massive amounts of satelites needed for Starlink and Starmind.

After this Direct tv willl likely end up buying it off them id guess.

Idk if SpaceX would bid on any of this. The Big3 likely would to further the 5G and 6g expansion. Think this would be useful to SpaceX if they did plan on truly going hybrid with Colocated terrestrial towers in dense urban areas… but idk if they will do that

So if they do bid on mid C band in 3.7-4.2 GHz range it’s likely because they will plan on doing terrestrial 5G. And if I remember correctly SpaceX did actually try to get FCC to make this upper hand (that is in this announcement FCC auction) to be hybrid sat/terretrial… btw the last fcc auction in this similar band was like $80B total…

I think the actual Spectrum SpaceX would want is L-Band. Which is owned by Globalstar - now Amazon pretty sure so that is out of the picture. Then Iridium which RocketLab just bought, then Viasat/Inmarsat owns some… and I still think NextNav/Anterix/etc could be useful additions for cheap as well….

Trump accounts
If you have kids, sign up. Spacex rumored to be donating. MU for certain states. Dell family for lowest income zip codes. Pretty cool stuff. Signed my kids up.
Super quick and easy to do.
