Did you buy any at IPO

No - owned it pre-ipo.

You may remember that I have mentioned the "Law of Unintended Consequences" several times. This is another instance.

In their zeal after the dot.com bust to protect retail investors from ****** IPO's, they made the requirements so draconian that many firms elected to stay private for longer, so instead of aiding retail investors, the tighter policies instead helped wealthy investors and the expense of retail investors.

Wish I could have bought in while private. 1million percent would have invested pre 2022 when it was <$120B valuation… I’ve been following them a while and it was obvious the direction it was going. And all the other space companies were a decade behind. If you at all thought there would be a successful space economy in the future, you knew SpaceX would be the ones to own…

I mean at worst After seeing how they recovered from Amos6, handily beat Boeing on commercial crew, and Starlink was announced, there was no room left to doubt whatsoever. It was obvious how its value was going to end up. Their reusable rocket moat is incredible. **** As soon as Ukraine demonstrated Starlinks true value (Feb2022) what more was there to doubt? Sure maybe the AI data centers in space couldn’t have been explicitly predicted then, but the truth is it doesn’t matter what the space economy was going to move towards, it was SpaceX that was exclusively going to win/profit

Also to your actual point, absolutely. Accredited investor is exclusionary BS.

A couple of points, which you likely know:

Accredited is only a $1MM NW excluding your house. If thats what your NW is you shouldnt be investing in illiquid investments.

Separately, there are ETF's and mutual funds that had/have significant stakes in private companies, so there are ways for accredited investors to invest in them in a liquid or semi liquid structure.

“Shouldn’t be” according to to….. ? lol. And I’d say SpaceX very much wasn’t illiquid. They had liquidity events 2x per year for like a decade. But also that’s the entire point, I shouldn’t drink, smoke, do xyz… yet I’m allowed to. You want to say you have to take pass a course teaching those “shouldn’t do’s” sure… but just a you can’t invest unless you’re worth millions? Nah that’s BS. If I start a retirement account, after college, why should I not be able to invest in a private company if that’s the risk I want to take…

ETFs and mutual funds aren’t ownership. It costs a fee and doesn’t give you exactly what you want if you were trying to go that way to get SpaceX exposure. . The best way to even own SpaceX before IPO was actually just owning Google

You will learn in the future, young Jedi.

Should be an up day in tech. Micron killed earnings. They specialize in memory chips.

Memory chip companies up, while the rest of semi’s and Ai down….ouch
SK Hynix Will become available to buy. AAPL price increase due to memory chip prices increases….

Also do any of y'all own MNOs/cell service providers that own a lot of terrestrial spectrum in the US(or rest of world) for 5g, and are valued very low or are prime acquisition targets? For SpaceX DTC aspirations which probably have a TAM of close to $1T by itself, I do view this is a critical possible acquision.

I'd assume US Mobile is probably the prime target, but SpaceX is acquiring Cursor for $60B... T-Mobile, At&t, and Verizon are worth like what $160-$200B each?

Id guess globally Vodafone and Millicom?
