Still shaking my head on why we let Horton get away...

Horton is a good player and he has another leap left in him. He works hard. There is more downfield ability than we saw last season.

I get why he was intrigued by Alabama. He’s friends with the quarterback and the other guys will command attention. We got hurt at receiver in the winter portal by not having Beck in place.

I think CJ Daniels can replace what Horton gave us last year. The tougher one to replace will be Restrepo. He was a go-to guy at the college level. We have the talent but need someone to demand the ball.

In your opinion who is the best bet to replace restrepo as the go to guy

Trumpycane fun fact of the day

In the last 6 games of the year Horton had less yards than Sam Brown who didn’t record a single stat v Syracuse

So why are are people acting like he was some massive loss

Because the offense was throwing elsewhere and there were a **** ton of mouths to feed. It doesn't mean this kid can't play

I'm not all doom and gloom about our WR prospects, but Horton can definitely play. I like both him and Daniels…But gun to my head I like Horton a tad better. Hopefully they are a wash and Trader is better than both.

Some of you operate under the assumption that players don’t get better. Horton has markedly improved each season. He’ll likely be better this next season. Had he stayed, he’s likely #1 option and an 800 yard + guy next season, particularly when you factor in more targets. I hope Jojo balls out, but proven production is verifiable, whereas hope and potential is just that.

Only the guys that stay can get better.
If they leave, they've likely* plateaued.

*unless they come back after leaving.

Let’s see him actually put up 800+ yards at bama & be a 1B or #2. Zay definitely got better here. He went from a forgotten guy to productive. & him getting better was 616 yards. It is replaceable. TBH ppl did the same thing with Young leaving for UGA. We’ll see. I think we’ll be ok with Daniels, Marion, & Moore replacing that production.

He was last year too but Restrepo and George didn’t hit the portal.
Yes, he should have known of all people to give Mario the benefit of the doubt and what do you know we landed a better QB than he has now justike last year. I wanted to keep him but oh well.

This. I'm higher on Horton's upside. But I think Daniels historically has been the more reliable receiver. If Daniels is back to form, and Trader is who we think he is, we'll be fine. But we need those two to live up to their promise. Beck will get them the ball, they just need to catch it.

Yeah, I don’t buy the “he thought Emory Williams was going to be the quarterback” argument. Horton was literally on the team in 2023. He didn’t hit the portal before we signed Cam. Did he think Miami was just going to give up on signing a transfer quarterback?

I think this is just an example of a kid who grew up in SEC country getting a chance to play for the school he probably always wanted to play for but didn’t get offered. Miami probably could have upped the bag to keep him but they obviously didn’t want to.
