Can't believe there are still people defending Golden. No way these people are UM Football fans or graduated high school.

Lol at this idiot stating Chick wasn't misused. He was asked to gain weight and play out of his position. By adding bulk, Chick was now slower and his quickness was a major part of his strength to begin with. Golden placed him away from his natural position for his entire career.

Chick situation under UM is the very definition of misuse.

no you change the defense based on not having enough guys to run a 3-4 two gap. which he didn't have the right personnel and our recruiting base doesn't fit the bill

Yep. UM cares more about stuff like this than winning. SFGay has already admitted once on here that there are UM employees on the site. It's pathetic.

The funniest thing here is that most of the Hecht Squad and Shades Fam that keep brushing this off, saying things like "it's just training camp" or "it's only preseason" are all up in other threads like "YO, NJOKU IS GONNA BE AN ALL-AMERICAN DID YOU SEE THAT CATCH IN 7v7s!?"

Well it looks like the old Bulls LB duo of Levante David and ex-Cane balla sean will be mainstays & future stars in the NFL as the inside linebacker trio of Lawrence Timmons, Sean Spence and Ryan Shazier looked especially good as they showed off their speed and were all over the field, particularly ex-Cane balla Spence. L David in an NFL all Pro with the Bucks and has a new contract reflecting that.

Ex-cane balla Shayon Green, likely a mainstay with Steelers, may be looking behind his back for Chickillo posturing for a roster spot, but actually LB Howard Jones could be the odd man out after Chickillo Hall of Fame game. But even before the game, the fact is that Chickillo has shown that burst and ability to dip the edge that translates well against the more athletic OTs in the League. While Jones and Green have shown flashes as as run stuffer and pass rusher, respectively, Chickillo has flashed the entire package throughout camp and the HOF game. Spence showing out with the Steelers LB starters, then Canes Green and Chickillo on 53-man roster, Jones to Practice squad. 3 Cane LBs on the same NFL roster; wow that's one for the ages!

The fact that he can do something against NFL backups and Senior Bowl players indicates he should have looked better against, at least, the likes of Pitt, Va, etc. Chick never looked like the player he can be. That's not to say he's a great player or a potential NFL star. It's to say his assignments made him look worse. That is the opposite of a coach's mission.

Preacing to the choir. I think Coach Macho and I were beating down the idea that he should have SLIMMED down and been used differently for 2+ years. The year he looked the best at UM is when he played the most upfield. We had yet to transition to a predominant 2-gap, contain front.
 
I guess Chick must have been one of those "trouble" makers who made Golden's life miserable here, huh? Fly the banners sky high.

Chick may not have done a whole lot this game, but he certainly LOOKED better. He looked more explosive and he showed better knee-bend. He moved a lot better.

Perhaps our coaches could run a defense that caters to the athletes he has at Miami.
