Got 3 yrs eligibility including this year. Could be a 2 yr starter in 26+27. We'll see. Regardless with Cantwell, Okunlola, Kinsler, and hopefully still Pepe or whoever like Ervin possibly. Maybe even Bell returning. I'm pretty confident we have 2 quality starting OTs next year.
But it does seem like this year and next spring there are no more excuses for Samson. It'll be time to **** or get off the pot - at least at Miami for him...
 
We are going into year 4 with plenty of (expensive) talent in both side of the trenches.

We need to dominate both sides and play bully ball… we have a playoff winning caliber QB and RB room we can build on next season to the keep this momentum going from a 10 win season.
 
Defensive tackle is the once position in the trenches that this staff really needs to do a better job recruiting. I pray Mario takes DT personal again because this teams need an injunction of numbers and talent to make that position group championship level.

Intangibles and measurables are much more important. You can put a helmet on a bear and tell it to hunt and mate. Doesn’t help if that bear is a panda and wants to sunbathe. I’ve been drinking so excuse my diction if this **** don’t make sense.

The downside is that those positions often take the most time to develop. There aren’t a ton of linemen that can immediately contribute. Even the most skilled recruits often need a year or two of physical development. So you don’t get the immediate impact you might get with a 5 star receiver or running back.

I see a lot of people here writing off linemen who don’t immediately contribute. It’s unrealistic to assume freshmen linemen should be playing right off the bat, especially interior defensive linemen. The good news is, most of these guys are in their second and third year now so we should finally see the proverbial fruits of our recruiting.

Firmly believe, in order, that OL, TE and DL are the three most difficult positions when making the jump from HS to College and then from College to the NFL.

Strength levels explode and, at a certain level, technique levels start to go up a lot.

Even at its most basic, you’re asking a 17 or 18 year old to match strength with a 21 or 22 year old who’s been in a college weight program for up to five years. “Grown Man Strength” is a real phenomena.

I still don't understand how Bain hump moved Blake Miller in the Clemson game.

Miller has started at RT as a freshman, was a 3rd-team All-ACC in 23 and 1st team All-ACC selection in 24 and he beat him up as if it was nothing. The dude will be drafted really early next year.

There's no precedent for a freshman beating up NFL players as if it was nothing.

Bain is an absolute freak. I had never seen a high school defensive lineman that was physically and technically ready to play college immediately. You’ll see freshman ends play but most of the time they’re part of a pass rush package where their only responsibility is to get after the quarterback on third and long. Bain’s strength and leverage allowed him to be a three down lineman immediately. If he was 6’5” he would have been the #1 player in the nation.

How can you possibly have any opinion on the WR when only two of them have played any snaps in a Miami uniform?? Who in this WR room has struggled to get open, has a history of drops or blowing assignments?

Dawson has a receiver friendly offense resulting in the #1 offense in the country in 2024 with 3 undrafted free agents starting. Now according to the rankings this WR room is far from average, I guess we will all know the truth this coming season.

Nah. If you don't have 4 kids who all have won the Biletnikoff award, I don't think you can expect to be better than about a .500 ballclub. Sucks, but it is what it is. 6-6 incoming because our nine blue-chip receivers plus 6th year senior we got from the SEC are probably gonna combine to catch about 14 passes this year. At least we have Lofton, though. Has anyone ever won the Mackey, Heisman, and Congressional Medal of Honor in the same season?
