He would be a good fit here. Schiano is an *******, and that's what we need to get these players in line.

Nobody said that..nobody is taking away what butch did..but it’s still not up with Saban and Dabo who sustained success..one did it in another locale while the other is doing at place that never won b4 on this level..Butch did it at Miami where it was some before..then hasn’t sniffed success since

what Butch did at Miami was incredible but it was just a few years removed from the greatest run any team in college ever had. South Florida kids were still in love with the Canes. The internet also wasn’t promoting every south Florida kid to the nation so Miami could handpick the Ed Reeds of the world. It was lightning in a bottle and wouldn’t happen again in the modern world

That's all cool extra info but I was answering your actual question (above) which was if Miami made Butch.

History says without a doubt it was more catching lightning in a bottle then some that Butch could sustain or duplicate

No team from any year beats an all-time bama team, regardless if they’re coached by Saban or Coker right now.

ECU was better than this years FIU they had some legit nfl talent. They shouldn’t have beaten us but they weren’t trash

From 1999 to 2002 ECU had a grand total of 4 players taken the nfl draft..from 1999 to 2002 Miami had 28..

it’s not too far fetched to say FIU might have 4 guys taken in the draft by 2023. And for **** sure correct that this Miami team has nowhere near the same talent as that 1999 Miami team..either way you look at it Miami had no business losing to either squad. So its a fair equivalence.

They were better. This FIU team is garbage. The 99 team was a young talented team with no quality wins, except against an 8 win Gtech squad.

Agreed! People need to wean themselves off of this Butch Davis Kool-Aid. Butch Davis' college coaching record is 86-57. If you remove his record while coaching at Miami and look at his tenure at North Carolina and FIU, it isn't that impressive. He was 12-23 at North Carolina (28-23 if you include his vacated games). He is 23-14 at FIU. Whoopdie-friggin-doo.

i knew kids that turned down Big East and ACC schools to go to ECU. they had a nice little run. I think it was a horrible loss at the time but those ECU teams were better than this FIU team. sad part is this FIU team has been decimated by injuries and still beat us.

I never wanted Davis chit-canned because their was no access to sites like this one, and other Cane sites, back in the day. In other words, I wouldn't be tempted to go along with the pick-fork carrying Cane horde. Nevertheless, I knew the sanctions put him behind the proverbial eight-ball and he would need time to get Miami on par, again.

North Carolina is an acc bottom feeding basketball school. He wasn’t being given UF, LSU, OSU, or Clemson type support. He still stocked their roster and had them on an upward trajectory.

FIU is FIU.

Butch would build a stacked team here TODAY.

Win a title? Probably not, but with the right coordinators, who knows?

You guys don’t want Butch? Fine but at least judge his record with context. Miami, UNC, and FIU were raging dumpster fires. The latter two had zero talent and UM was under crippling sanctions. Didn’t take over talented teams that just needed a kick in the ***.

Many great names have been thrown around that have no UM connections. Our administration isn’t smart enough to hire them.
When you look at the guys they do hire, Butch is the best choice.
 
I don't care who we lost to, i want to know who we plan to beat in the future.
