I can live with the TEs on the roster for now, assuming that we see a jump in quality from Walford and Dye. Would rather use the spot on a game changer at either DB, WR, or DL.

almost a perfect class, except for...

WE ARE ****ED at the TE position.

Figured we would take AT LEAST 1 more. Luckily TE isnt a major game changing position, but as we have seen in the past, incorportating the receiving TE has KILLED alot of teams, the Hurricanes most definitely included. The blocking TE can pay huge dividends in the run game. I dont know whats going on with Cleveland, but if Im looking at this right we have:

Cleveland (if he ever sees the field again)
Walford (Should start from jump street)
Dye (blocking)
Perry? Not sure if he will be TE or DE
and Hollifield, someone who has basically played 3 full games of football his whole life.

Just one stud at TE would have filled that need, but we will still have a hole there next year.

Even with a class this big, with the volume we needed to acquire and talent...one position will always be left out...it just happened to be tight end. We swung for the fences with Sean Price and after he cut us...there just wasn't anyone out there interested that was of any quality.

What was the deal with Price? From what I remember he never showed much interest in us. Seems odd to me that he would opt to play at S. Florida when we have such a glaring hole at TE and a long line of TE tradition.

I like this 2013 Quinton Powell prospect. Saw him play twice. Can chase down running backs and makes plays. Get em Golden.

i agree with this

i think we will see a lot out of Walford this coming season year

We will land none of them

Sigh. Im so conditioned to expect a swing and a miss

I got us at ONE and a backup to the backup plan...and I'd be ecstatic.

THIS. We are taking our hacks, but swimming upstream. I hope the fan base understands the probabilities in play. Golden has a winning strategy.

I just don't think we have spots for everyone that we are inviting or "in the mix for" this late.

Bakas said 4 spots...I'd think two is more likely...split the difference...3 players.

If he can land one big fish (my preference is Howard, but I'll take any big fish)...retain Northrup or get a commit from an adequate backup...bring in Crawford...throw one more on top...that's a nice finish for a gigantic class of players.

I still even think all that without the Big Fish is a strong effort by the staff...I think they really worked their *** off this year in all facets...now lets see if that work pays off, because this is only half the battle. If they were correct on evals and get guys that come in and work...it should be a nice fun ride over the next few years.

I'll say this; after the last few years of the ho-hum attitude going into signing day, I'm really pumped about the potential to close strong. Of the group named in the original post, I think the most likely scenario is Crawford or Howard and Hamilton or JHC. I think we get at 2, though which 2 I'm not sure, but either way, I think we'll be heard from on Wednesday.

You can "hide" a TE in an offense, by using unbalanced line, extra lineman, 4 wrs sets, FB in slot etc. But you can also enhance a TE by surrounding him by WRs that can draw coverage and open space on the field. So not having that stud at TE doesn't hurt as much as missing stud talent elsehwere.

Howard
Crawford
Young
Northrup

would be an epic finish to the class and a decent possibility.

add in one of Hamilton/L.Williams and it would be greatest close ever

I would take the first 3 and swap out Young for either of the last two you mentioned, and i would be doing friggin cartwheels.

Carroo is no longer coming

Source?? I havent seen anything saying this. Did you talk directly to Carroo?

Bakas reported he isnt coming and was sure to remind everyone that he said that yesterday.

D Hamilton is here though and thats great news even if he is a longshot.

I'm intrigued to see what happens to the Rutgers class.

Hamilton was basically a Rutgers/UF matchup with supposedly him being a Rutgers lean...I guess we'll see...but its nice to get that last visit. There is obvious connections here...would be a nice late get, but I strongly doubt it.
