Stanford about to go all in?

ITs STANFORD THEY WILL BE A NON FACTOR IN THE ACC. They arent in a g5 conference that is the pac 12 anymore. They are currently having trouble beating San Jose State.

This whole all in talk...heard the same sh*t with Bill Belichik and UNC all off szn. And they are way more ahead of a stanford when it comes to football...and we are watching that.

They would need to get an identity again like harbaugh- and David Shaw. Are they gonna spend NIL on landing top OL in the nation yearly and qbs maybe that needs to be the route. Also it will be hard for them to keep guys too now...cause we all could poach as they develop them as well.

The second thing is the money the government is giving them is for research purposes. The government does that because the money they put in is assumed to be received back through innovation breakthroughs. I don't think most people understand how accelerated medical breakthroughs have become due to higher ed funding. You walk into a hospital today and the vast majority of that tech and knowledge has been generated by medical grant research through colleges, either directly or indirectly.

In a free market, nobody is going to care about pumping money into doing cancer or neurodegenerative disease research with very little yield other than the continuation of knowledge for the human race. But for people with that disease it could be life changing. I hear people complain all the time that medical companies just want to keep you alive, not cure the disease, because it's financially better for them. As someone once said, the government and government spending is supposed to fill the gaps that the free market won't touch or shouldn't touch.

Also, Hillsdale, etc are SLACs, not research institutions like the Ivies

Palo Alto is one of the nicest cities in California.

Plus the surrounding cities like Mountain View & Cupertino are absolutely perfect College style metropolitan areas.

The only way someone would have a hard time living there, is they were a Hillbilly with an IQ below 70, or a stone cold racist that doesn't like diversity.

But college athletes do just fine in Palo Alto, it's nothing like San Francisco like people might assume.

Lol not necessarily.

I think some Midwesterners who prefer slower paced flatland/farm life might not like a place like Palo Alto. But most Southerners would do just fine in PAlto.

It's a vibrant area with always something to do & events to go. The people are friendly & welcoming. Housing is expensive but worth it for the quality of life. And the food/restaurants are top notch.

College towns mostly revolve around the college (hence the name). Palo Alto does not.

But maybe I’m wrong and the pipeline of warner robbins, ga will flock to the 5h flight from Atlanta
