Staff thoughts going forward

Overall I think this is a **** good staff. Counting the HC and S&C team, 8/11 roles are filled by SEC coaches (other 3 breakdown with 1 HS, 1 Big East, 1 NFL). Missouri DL coach is a homerun. OL coach has been hired by some of the best coaches in the country for the last decade+. Those are the 2 most important position coaches in terms of teaching technique and those were probably Richt's 2 most sound hires.

Diaz is a little boom or bust, but his scheme certainly fits the local talent (disruptive 4-3). Out of the entire staff I could see him getting replaced in a few years, but that's true of every single defensive coordinator across the NFL and NCAAF. Very few good defenses out there that aren't coached by Saban/Belichek.

Banda, Hartley, & Brown are all young guys with short resumes but they also have recent experience working in the systems that will be put in place by their respective coordinators. Were there more experienced position coaches out there? Likely yes, but it would not be ideal to have an entire staff learning new schemes themselves while trying to teach the players. Richt and Diaz seemed to bring along their top choices based on who they trust to lean on.

Rumph is a huge wild card and i'm really intrigued to see how he pans out. He sort of combines the best qualities from Ice (HS State Champ), Beard (respected local recruiter) and Kehoe (connection to 2000 team). He has the most potential to make an impact right away if he can help lock down some of the top DB targets down the stretch and also get us back in the mix with Heritage. Dugans is also intriguing since he's recruited FL the past 2 years and also has a pretty solid track record coaching up wideouts.

Ironically the least exciting staff member on paper is the guy who was in the NFL last year, but obviously he was part of the deal from day 1 with the HC.

Fellow Fans,

I would offer epectations should be tempered with realistic expectations.

The goal shouldnt be a CDC, ACCCG win, or even a NC.

The goal should be set as simple as this.

Win this snap of the ball.

If they are able to win each play, everything will naturally fall into place.

That just seemed lacking for years now. The defense gets a rare 3rd down stop, the offense goes back out for another 3 and out. And the cycle went on and on with disappointing consistency. They could not sustain a string of "win this play" success with any frequency against middling to upper tier talent.

Hopefully the new coaching staff, along with their diferrent recruiting philosophy, will translate.

Gonna need ato least two years to meet those expectations. ...the cupboard is quiet bear at this point ... need to restock with quality not quantity. 2 years min...

The Oline was young and lacking talent. Next season they will be a year older and lacking talent.

We don't lack talent. That's going to far. We only lack talent at one position and that's left tackle. We have no true left tackle but that can be masked with good playcalling and better technique.

All those guys were pretty highly rated and sought after.. Saying they lack talent is silly.

I think we're fooling ourselves by putting expectations together too quick. Watch a spring game THEN assume. We ain't at signing day.

I mean, yes, but no. The spring game last year was atrocious and that lead to 8-4. I think OP is saying that with upgrading coaches at every spot and the same talent coming back minus Artie and Deon (the only two players we will miss) this team should win 10.

I've looked at the schedule. Go game by game and you will have a hard time finding more than 2 losses. It's very favorable.

Favorable schedule + IMPROVED coaching + experienced starters/talent returning = 10-11 wins.

11-1

We ALL know that if Al Golden coached the remaining games this team loses 3-4 of those games. Fetty wap with his eye closed could've seen that.

With our stadium situation it's great that we have obtained the amount of sec coaches we have considering they chose to leave perspective schools who stadiums are full in each and every Saturday. I would like to add we need another elite south Florida recruiter on the staff in the next year or so. However I do know winning makes every school more appealing so in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal

I don't think stadium attendance played a role in a coaches decision to come here. The U provides the clearest path to 10+ wins and eventually the playoffs. A coach is judged by wins, not attendance.
