Stadium... (something that 99% of posters don't realize)

Article 7 of the County Charter would forbid the use of Tropical Park for a stadium

Parks, aquatic preserves, and lands acquired by the
County for preservation shall be held in trust for the
education, pleasure, and recreation of the public and they
shall be used and maintained in a manner which will leave
them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations
as a part of the public’s irreplaceable heritage. They shall be
protected from commercial development and exploitation
and their natural landscape, flora and fauna, and scenic
beauties shall be preserved. In lands acquired by the
County for preservation and in parks along the Ocean or
the Bay the public’s access to and view of the water shall not
be obstructed or impaired by buildings or other structures
or concessions which are in excess of 1500 square feet each.
Adequate maintenance shall be provided

^^this as well....

Tropical park could be redone very nicely with synthetic turf. They could hold high profile highschool games there and soccer.

Make it a multi use facility and the county would get involved but UM would need to have the majority stake in it. This way what happened to us and the OB shouldn't or wouldn't happen again
 
as to tropical park, it could not be given to UM, but they could enter into a joint venture to build it with the county retaining ownership.

Don't know why people are complaining about Sun Life, the FSU game atmosphere was GREAT, it's the fans job to come to the game.

However I agree a smaller stadium would be nicer but with the improvement Sun Life is making, don't see us leaving

Seats are not getting closer. My current season ticket seats and yours (assuming you have them) are not moving an inch. The renovations are putting lipstick on a pig. Additionally, it is going to reek Miami Dolphins like never before. That stadium is the worst.

NEWSFLASH: The UM campus is at the VERY EDGE of Coral Gables. See, there's this road called 57th Ave, and on the other side of it is NOT Coral Gables.

That area may be South Miami, Glenvar Heights, Unincorporated Miami-Dade, or whatever, depending on where you are. There is even subsidized housing in the area, as well as machine shops and car repair places.

It's not completely outside the bounds of possibility that a stadium could be situated there, with some creative design and the introduction of access to the metro and some affordable housing thrown in.

Will it happen? Probably not. But it's not in motherfriggin Coral Gables, and you can still consider it on campus stadium!
