Stacy Coley also being investigated.....per Barry Jackson

The longer this drags on the more likely it seems like Coley, Grace, AQM won't be playing at all this season.

Dude chill... Porter just said

UM football has been prepared to be w/out Coley, AQM, Grace for 1-3 games BUT no determination made yet. Resolution expected soon.

He also said um coaches expect them to remain on the team too.

They're preparing to be without those three players for an indeterminate amount of time. Period.

Could be 1 game, could be the whole season. We really don't know. Because I am a Canes fan and have seen the NCAA make an example of us several times, I'll continue to expect the worst.

This. Keep in mind, we pretty much skated through punishment (unless you count the "cloud" of uncertainty) for our last offense due to that shady lawyer's handling of our case. That couldn't have made the NCAA too happy. They will be more than thrilled to nail us to the wall this time. I'm with rok and I am fully preparing myself to never see Grace, Coley, or AQM suit up. To be honest, I'm not sure how anyone thinks the NCAA would just let this incident slide with a small suspension for these players.

Why do you say that?

This is how I see it playing out:

Sometime between now and 9/3 UM will announce that the three are suspended indefinitely.
The case will then be handed over to the NCAA who will sit on it for as long as they want because they hate Miami.
Miami will be too afraid to reinstate them until they're 100% cleared.
This will drag on for another 35 years and we'll lose more scholarships.

That's not even how it works.

You're basing your opinion on a procedure which doesn't even exist.

The UM compliance department will determine the penalty, i.e., the length of suspension, before the first game is played. Whatever the NCAA has to say, it will be after UM has hand down its own due diligence penalty. Which could be one or two games for each or all of the players, or some combination thereof.

Your opinion about what may happen has zero basis in reality.

If you want an example of something similar, refer back to Jacory Harris, Olivier Vernon, etc. as Franchise pointed out a while back.

No one knows much There has been no announcement but that may not happen until game week. They have been rightfully tight lipped about it. The infringements are minor .

Those suspensions were handed down by the NCAA back in 2011 iirc. They were deemed ineligible and had to serve their suspensions and repay the benefits they received to become eligible again.

How did you get "fully prepared" for this? I'm struggling to get there.

Stop. What they did doesn't warrant anything more than a game or 2. Much worse than this goes on all the time.

Actually, those guys were suspended by the NCAA back in 2011. So the analogy is incorrect.

But this current situation is NOT that situation.

This is the school's own internal investigation, with punishment by the school, which will be reported to the NCAA after we've done our own investigation and punishment.

Normally, in recent cases, the NCAA does nothing after receiving our info.

I'm glad to see someone with intimate knowledge of the exact infractions weigh in. It's comforting for those of us who are admittedly shook.

Supposedly JY was kicked off the team for being non-compliant, lying, what have you.

Haven't they unearthed some more of this from these other three? How else could you possibly explain this dragging on for months?

I left all of them off of my two deep roster I wrote down on my napkin at Waffle House this morning.

This is no different than dozens of other recent extra benefits cases at other schools, where the school does its own investigation and punishment, then reports to the NCAA after the fact.

Only if the NCAA thinks there's something egregiously wrong with the investigation and or punishment do they even take any action. Again this will mainly remain in the schools hands.

Really? You're shook? Ok, then. Of. Purse I could be wrong. The fact they are on the team and practicing says a lot and I have trust in richt handling these things.
