Spring QB battle

Perry will start
Williams will redshirt

We shall see. I wouldn't count out Williams, seeing as how he's coming in physically ahead of Perry. If he gets the playbook down, and comes in better prepared for this level, he darn well could win the job.

Next year is all about Perry.

Rosier - nowhere near as talented
Sheriffs - should be a transfer candidate
Weldon - behind him on depth chart
Williams - a true freshman, albeit an EE.

If Perry can't beat out that crew next year, he's prolly not the guy.

Williams arriving early is huge, especially if he comes in better prepared than Perry did. I look for a darn good battle, with Williams earning Richt's trust faster than Perry did. It'll be a heck of a battle, and I won't be shocked if Williams wins the job. Not that Perry isn't super talented, but that Williams, to me, looks better prepared coming in.

Definitely possible. Williams seems legit. We just need one of them to be legit and we're rollin.

We need to beat LSU to end the bad buzz from losing three games. So, whichever gives us best chance to win that game needs to start that game. That might not be the same QB best for the rest on the season or even the second half of that game. I don’t care which or ho many qbs start or play. Heck, I’m okay with Chocalate and Dallas in backfield with wildcats to either.

I was actually mpressed with Williams. He's very mobile and more accurate then Rosier right now. Yea, he slightly underthrew Pope on the deep ball but that will come with reps. I ageee it's Perry's job to lose but I definitely wouldn't sleep on Jarren.

I'm going to put this as gently as I can.

If Perry can't beat out Rosier this off season....he's never going to amount to ****. His path to being the starter could not be any clearer.

Weldon may have some talent, but getting caught hitting the wacky pipe isn’t helping his cause or leadership

If Perry isn't good enough to win this gig, then we might be in trouble unless Williams is a phenom. Williams looks like an excellent prospect, and all-star games aren't a great way to judge players, but he didn't jump out at me in that game. The young QB going to USC, on the other hand, did.

We need a dynamic QB to emerge. That's for sure. When's the last time we had a QB that we won because of and not in spite of?

Jarren played 2 series in that game.

He looked a lot better than the other QBs on his team though. Daniels played 5 series, so yeah he had a lot more chances to stand out.

You love to find every negative you can, you just look dumb when you nitpick like that though

Barton Simmons was very high on Williams after his performance overall. I thought He outplayed Trevor Lawrence once again too in that game.
This is what he postede
“But there’s more potential first-year starters at quarterback in this game. Jarren Williams, a Miami commit that is enrolling early, will have an opportunity to compete for Mark Richt. He was outstanding in San Antonio and very consistent. I expect Williams and 2017 signee N'Kosi Perry to make a legitimate run at Malik Rosier's job.”

Franchise is basically a troll at this point.

Every Miami guy sucks and every non-Miami guy is awesome according to him

Yup. Amazing 2-10 teams like UNC have 3rd string freshman QBs that so far are light years better than anything we have. If Perry aint ready in '18, he's a bust. Has to be the easiest QB slot in the country. Anyone who is half *** can waltz in and start for their career.

Maybe not. I just think he was WAY behind in terms of knowing how to watch film, progress reads, read a D, etc. Wayyyy behind. I wouldn't be shocked if it takes him more than one season to win the job. He's athletically ahead of everyone, but he has a lot of work to do to catch up on the mental aspect. When he does, look the **** out. He will be a good one.

I said it when he signed and I'll say it again. I hope everyone is patient with him and doesn't turn on him when he doesn't win the job as soon as everyone wants/expects. He has the talent, but sometimes that talent takes time to develop. With him and Williams pushing each other, great days are ahead. Just be patient.

People are impatient just like a microwave everyone wants success right now. I will bet my house and Bolt that Perry will win the job that is who CMR chose to be his signal-caller from day one. Williams looks like a great Prospect but to beat the coaches boy he has to be twice as good look at Alabama and f'd up situation

This ain't about "winning the job when everyone wants/expects"....it's really rather simple. The only thing standing between Perry and the starting job is a QB who we all now know is completely erratic and not what Richt wants behind center.

I couldn't disagree more and I'll reiterate it one more time...if Perry doesn't beat out Rosier my money is on him never being a starter here and eventually getting passed up by Williams. I'll stand by that prediction the same way I stood by Rosier being the starter LAST off season when everyone thought I was out of my ******* mind and was buying the Sheriff and true freshman Perry talk.

I completely understand TRUE freshman Nkosi Perry not starting...but given what we have next year I simply won't understand REDSHIRT freshman Nkosi Perry not starting. His time is right now and he'll be given every opportunity to win the job. If he doesn't it will be telling.

If anybody behind Rosier doesn't win the job it's because Rosier won the job fair & square, and got better.

And before any of y'all b!tches say accuracy can't be improved, Charlie Ward's completion percentage jumped from 56% in 92', to 70% in 93'.

LOL...Testaverde, Walsh, Erickson, & Toretta, a list that includes 2 Heisman winners & 3 National Champions...some of y'all b!tches act like you've never seen a future great ride the pine for 2 years.

Well its pretty obvious that this will be completely an open competition.....between Perry, Weldon, and Williams.

If I were a betting man I'd be betting on Perry or Weldon...most likely Perry.

All I know is if we have an open competition, and Rosier wins the job, we are so ****ed. Thes Freshman bettter step their ******* **** up this spring and summer.

I'd rather go into week 1 vs LSU with Perry and Weldon splitting reps than to have Rosier start the season for us.
