Official Spring PractiSe #6 (including Scrimmage #1): Saturday 3-25-2023

Well I'll just speak on my nephew. Mind you I've known Vinny since I was a teenager myself. So with my nephew when he had his injury. I sat with him at u health while Dr Kaplan did the surgery on him. I sat with him in the room till he was released later that day. Spoke with Dr Kaplan myself and listened to him giving instructions to my nephew regarding his meds and his rehab. Baez came to pick us up and I took him back to his apartment so I could make sure he had groceries and his chick knew everything necessary too. The very next day Vinny wanted to see us so he could check on results. #1 issue the Dr didn't even want the wound uncovered for 3 days and he had to stay off his feet for a week. Vinny undressed the wound and had him doing exercises on it the VERY NEXT DAY. When I spoke with Mandy and enos about it they simply said you know that Vinny will always put him in the best position to succeed. I had my doubts but I didn't want to scare my nephew. He just needed support because he had never been injured before. He was scared. Long and the short of it that injury had to be addressed several times and didn't heal completely for roughly two whole years. I have issues with feld but it's minor compared to kids having to deal with Vinny at this point. BUT as I said Vinny's role has been changed greatly and from what I've seen it's more advisory than anything else.
Appreciate your sharing the backstory. I hope someone later updated or informed Dr. Kaplan. If so, what was the reaction? Coaches, trainers & PT always want players back as soon as possible, but if not on the same page as the team doctor/surgeon then that's a ****-show.

It's had a complete overhaul (when it relates to the football staff)majority of them are still with us but like with Vinny, their roles have been overhauled. We could and probably should take it a step further and just cut ties with the majority of the staff but that's harsh. My only issue is even having Vinny in any sports oversight. He's a good dude and a cane forever but he goes against doctor orders FAR too often.

Any insight on how MC & football ops people feel about that ? That sounds negligent af. Is this what @apfenny3 what was referring to when he was here ?

There have been a lot of whispers around Vinny. Not everyone fully trusts Dr. Kaplan's crew, either. Even in the actual crew. It's a worrisome dynamic.

I've mentioned these issues in the past and openly wondered if Rad would address them (perhaps via our Presidential staff supporters). There are a lot of [health system and contractual] complexities here that go beyond what Mario (himself) can do. Nonetheless, the deeper reset some had hoped for has not yet occurred. No idea if it will.

I think people would be surprised by the behind-the-scenes drama(s) of our overall medical team. Over the past 6ish years, my concern is that players themselves are uncomfortable or distrusting of the dynamic.

Guys I'm not saying more than this. As I've shared it's been addressed. Something's are simply better off left in house. Maybe the backstory was one of those things in hindsight. I was simply trying to put people at ease that the trainers etc have new guidance. We're in a better place NOW

Mario after last practice mentioned a small, closed scrimmage today. With roughly 40 premier recruits on campus I hope we don't go too vanilla on offense, gotta give these WR recruits especially something to get excited about.
We condensed.

We fyzical.

I can respect that. Just glad they’re addressing it.

Tbh I think it’s too early to say anything for sure. I was told they’re being VERY careful with him. I don’t like speaking on injuries. I’ll just say it would be a nice surprise if he plays much next year. Don and Parrish must stay healthy and of course adding a portal rb
Call me crazy but I think our main backs will be Parrish and Fletcher during the season

I went off about the subject multiple times Mannys last year , it was bad. As you said “ it’s better now “.

ACL injuries are typically 12-18 month recoveries. Guys can come back sooner but outside of AP it's usually about 2 years before they look normal. If he sustained injury last fall late October seemed most realistic. It's only been 7 months not sure what CIS was expecting here.
Ankle fractures seem similar as well. Waddle suffered a severe ankle fracture in college and his rookie season he didn't have that same burst. He was still a good player but you could tell he wasn't moving like he was in college. He still had good straight line speed but he couldn't cut and go sideways as fast. He ended up getting all of that back in year 2.

I won't call you crazy, but I will accuse you of reading David Lake's 247 article from just five hours ago on his projected two-deep and regurgitating his opinion from again, today, as your own.

You actually have no idea what you’re talking about. This is like grabbing a bum off the street and asking him to perform brain surgery. That’s your level of knowledge.
That statement goes for about 93.8 % of all posters here myself included.... LOL!!!!

1) we need to make sure we get a solid portal RB somehow. Offer CJ Donaldson 50% more than we initially offered. We can not trust Chaney to stay healthy, Citizen to return to form after 18 months off, and a few freshman.

2) Reuben Bain not being a 5 star continues to look like such an egregious evaluation. He’s going to be a monster here over the next four years.

3) Seems we have more momentum with 5 star DL than any other position group for the ‘24 class. Sort of odd but I assume we will have a run of commits coming up.
3. Follow the money. Last year our NIL money went heavily to Oline. And it worked. This year I guarantee it will skew towards DLine. And it will work.

Honestly Dude you could explain things in it's most simple form possible and people will still go scorched earth with it.... TY for filling us in though... it is appreciated...

Ahh yes the former player on this site agreed with me but I have no clue what I’m talking about! 🤣

You’re legitimately the most condescending dude on this site and it cracks me the **** up like your **** doesn’t stink
