Yeah…

Thornton is going to wish he signed elsewhere, cause Dunnigan is taking that nickel spot and Poyser/Fitz back deep. Kid is too talented to keep off field. Thornton will play in certain packages, but JJ is going to be a dude early. Depth is a beautiful thing. We are getting to where we are supposed to be.
Happened to Brantley last year. Still believe Thornton will have a roll but he’s got his work cut out for him.

us as fans can't want it more than moore ... these other guys are hungry ... cam vaugn and jacobs are legit ... wingo is coming ... it's sink or swim ... i for one love it, we don't wait on guys no more ... imagine where we would have been if we had to wait on jojo to get his **** together?
Mario specifically said in his press conference that Josh Moore took a large step forward in the offseason.

Thornton is playing boundary/free Safety...
Fitzgerald is at Nickel. Fitz will also slide back to FS on passing downs. Fitz wants to bulk up a little more to prepare for the role. (think he said he's at 192)

The Nickels and Safeties are trained to be interchangeable...so Thornton will play some Nickel as well.

JJ is super talented and got plenty of praise during practice, but he ain't unseating Thornton. Thornton has the violence and experience that Hetherman covets. He's twitchier than Thomas and better in coverage (IMO). He made a phenomenal play on Mali on a wheel route during team period. (on Tuesday) Strapped him up.

Not hyperbole...
But I think we might have the best CB duo in the country. OJ has developed into a grown a$s man. He's every bit of 6'1" and ripped/jacked. And Lucas, who was kinda raw previously, is now becoming a much better technician. His press coverage on Tuesday was unreal. He's so big, long and fast that he's **** near impossible to run away from. He dominated his 1-on-1 periods. The DB coaches are doing a great job with these kids. There's some other talent in the CB room, but from a technique and confidence standpoint I think it falls off after OJ/XL. You can tell who's been here a minute and who's fresh outta high school.

Yall are gonna love Milan and Wingo.
Milan's catch radius is silly, and he's not awkward for a kid his size.
Wingo is twitchy and fast for his size.
The CB's even said "Wingo be rollin!" 🤣

Pruitt has to see the field significantly this season. He's too long and athletic not to. He looked great versus the RB's in 1-on-1's.
Fitzgerald at Nickel.... Only question is Tackling. Keionte Scott was straight up elite there. He didn't miss tackles on QBs. Made open field tackled, and slipped blocks like was covered in grease.... I don't particularly care too much which guy plays nickel but I would like to see a nice rotation there. It makes less sense to have Fitz at nickel on run downs and slide back on passing downs than it does the opposite though tbh. Though I guess there is just no way we play the same as last yr with just Bain and Scott to one side, so things will be different....

Pruitt... Man I just don't see this staff playing him. Guy could maybe be our version of Kyle Louis, but dude never gets reps. And with Toure and Chase Smith returning they will do what they have done over the past 4 yrs and just default to age/experience at LB. I just hope Wiley wins the starting lb Jon over Smith...

Good to hear at CB. That may be our deepest position on the team along with RB and maybe WR...
