Spring PractiSe 12 - No Media Access and Interviews

What I will tell you is the last staff coming into last camp was alot higher on Jake. And honestly right now I'm still higher on Jake too. They both still have their share of pluses and minuses. But Jake's upside is huge. Tyler is definitely the better pure passer but that's assuming he keeps progressing. He still has ALOT to learn AS HE SHOULD. His intangibles and his leadership qualities are off the charts. But his progressions and intermediate throws, his pocket presence leave alot to be desired.
This is spot on, those few things are the only big concerns id have with TVD as of right now.. Sometimes he has a slow clock with getting to the next progression but his arm makes up for it,which is like a gift and curse. And he bailed on alot of clean pockets, alot more than I noticed until i rewatched the games. Id like to see him maneuver in the pocket better, that will take him to the next level and he’ll have a long career

Gattis offense is centered around the quick game/rpo and intermediate throws so that can be a great for TVDs development and can combat the 2 high stuff that teams might transition to this year vs him…And i hear he’s killing it in spring so thats a positive sign. What I’ve noticed from all the reports on him and just hearing him speak is that dude loves football and the grind that comes with it so I think he’s gonna keep getting better and better.

@What are you saying with this? Do you believe TVD is being overrated on CIS because he had the admittedly very important advantages of a great receiver and mediocre defenses?
Over rated is very different than let's slow down a lil with the expectations. At this point in time his play has alot of room to grow,as it should. Reality is this entire team has alot of room to grow & until production on the field shows hype is warranted than people need to relax. We have alot of very good young players that with proper coaching we should see a improvement in their play. Let things happen naturally before their annointed. Gotta let them show it on the field.

Right but he's out there coaching...as a fan
He won a Natty & was run out of LSU immediately after. Imagine coming back to a place you once coached & achieved great things being able to do what you love to do (Coach at his leisure) while seeing a bunch of old war buddies & people who love & respect you. Add in the South Beach poon & O is probably in heaven.

His intangibles and his leadership qualities are off the charts. But his progressions and intermediate throws, his pocket presence leave alot to be desired. It's very important to remember he hasn't even started a full season & he played in a very QB friendly offense against bad coaching and average talent throughout the conference. I'm praying he keeps progressing and becoming what we all want out of him. But expectations can break a kid easily when that pressure adds up. Let's just slow down on the anointment stuff a lil. Let's see what he grows into.
Yu said tvd hasn't started a full season! But, he has started 6 or 7 games! But, yu still want garcia who hasn't started 1 game?

That's the thing. Jake's intangibles and leadership and pocket awareness and mobility, he throws a dime on the run, kids love him and even as a back up they hella respect the kid. I'm not trying to **** on Tyler at all. I just don't wanna see our fanbase destroy this kid like they did with kaaya if he doesn't live up to all the expectations which have only been created by people who are unaware of the shortcomings. His best ability by far is he throws a gorgeous deep ball. But if all were depending on is a deep ball then we should expect plenty of losses cause as u saw with fspoo,Virginia,Carolina they just simply switched up to a 2 deep look and he was stuck with check downs on the regular. His biggest task needs to be developing those intermediate routes and reading defenses a **** of a lot quicker. Remember the difference is now our standard is elite. Potential doesn't match up with elite. Execution does...
Technically, aren't yu doing da same thing with garcia?

I think what sets TVD apart right now is his elite ball placement. He consistently puts the ball in the exact spot it should be. You combine that with his cannon arm and it's an insane combo of attributes for a qb to have. If TVD improves his footwork and throwing on the run even slightly then Garcia has literally nothing on him as a prospect.

I agree 100%, that what yu said! and, the one thing garcia doesn't have is starting game experience.

So for anyone in the know: with the #' s thin at DE this spring, any chance Davis took one for the team solely working at DE? Having potentially carved a niche as a rush specialist, and the #' s at DE improving by the fall, any chance he gets a look at ILB/OLB?

And gets to hang out with his son...

Kid didn’t look explosive. That’s not a geographical statement, just a fact.
Listen man. He was a true freshman running behind a line that had YOU blocking for him. I’ll hold off criticism and focus on things he was actually good at and see how he develops. Only cam and rooster looked “explosive” and you’re only saying that cause they’re fast.
