Spring Football Games this weekend 4/22

From a local Bama reporter:

If Saturday's scrimmage showed anything, it's that Alabama's quarterback competition needs the extension of a continued offseason and the definitive arena of fall camp. Both quarterbacks look gifted, and at the same time look like they need more work. Timing needs work. On the other end of the throws, dropped passes need work, too.

For now, and that means for the next four months, there's no indication that the job is anyone's to lose.
I’m not sure if this is considered a bold take or not, but they’ll lose 2 regular season games minimum if either is the starting QB.

Then go to those schools. Miami will never have a college gameday experience that could rival actual college towns so they should do the best they can and market that it’s an nfl town with many business opportunities in the off season instead of Bubbas Used Cars in bum**** Gainesville.
Y do u think Miami will never have a college game day atmosphere? I’m not comparing it to a UGA or OSU type of situation, but I’m just really curious as this continued rhetoric.

No on-campus stadium. And even if hypothetically there was it still wouldn’t change the atmosphere. Most of the fans filling the stadium wouldn’t be students.

Coral Gables and south Florida can exist without UM.

Gainesville is centered around UF. You take the school away and it’s a ghost town.

I find this interesting & here’s y;

I’m not sure how many on this board have actually been to USC’s campus (well I know one has, for sure, since his daughter attends there). Many have said Miami is a small school located in Coral Gables; and that’s true. What’s not understood is that SC’s campus is actually smaller than Miami’s campus. SC’s main campus size is 229 Acres vs. The U’s 239 Acres.

SC is situated in the heart of the entertainment capital of the world; yet, SC does a great job in “giving” a college feel. It’s not like SC doesn’t have a TON of foreign students coming from India, Indonesia, China, Japan, Korea, etc. Granted, SC’s student body is much bigger than Miami’s, however I find it interesting that So Fla is the Mecca of Football (no offense to TX), and Miami has a hard time in drawing or giving the feel of a college atmosphere.

I do feel, being that I been to many games at the OB, it definitely felt like a collegiate atmosphere vs. the one game I did attend at SLS, which sure as **** didn’t feel like a college atmosphere. It had chit to do w/ distance, b/c the Rose Bowl feel like a college atmosphere vs. the energy or lack thereof I felt at SLS. Maybe that’s y fans are sooo gun-ho to hold on to 2017 ND.

Just interesting; I agree Miami will never be a Gainsville, Tuscaloosa, Knoxville, Athens, etc., but it definitely doesn’t have to be as anemic as it’s been.

Watched the Notre Dame game. My daughter goes there and I spend some time there because of that. Hartman is a huge pickup for them and they are probably a little better than the #10 spot where most will have them ranked. Weird spot for me with them now, but I am getting old can handle it. 🙃
I remember watching Hartman on QB1 wishing we would of recruited him.

Agree, sucks we can't build our own stadium. **** I would settle for something like 45-50K if it meant we could get a stadium near campus. I wish they could renovate the Marlins stadium for the Canes to play there, I have no clue why they got their own stadium to begin with. Canes need to do whatever they can to fill those empty seats in 2023. We need to at least fill 50K or so of the seats every week.

Honestly, there’s literally nothing about HRS that feels like a Miami Hurricanes home field. It feels very neutral site-ish, like no different than Texas playing an opponent at AT&T Field.

I still remember how Blake James tried to make it seem that Ross was in a partnership with us to configure HRS to both accommodate The Dolphins & The Hurricanes. I remember when I saw the teal stadium & I said ‘hold up, this chit ain’t for us!!’ (Lol) Then my thoughts came to fruition, as it was later reported that in order for HRS (SLS at the time) to host future SBs, renovations needed to be done. Maybe it is a great venue for the professional, NFL fan experience, but that stadium says “tenant” for us.

The Steelers org do a GREAT job in making sure when Pitt plays there, it’s Pitt Panther friendly. The Eagles do the same w/ Temple. The Dolphins? Bruh, we’ve had Dolphin End Zones for our home games several times now.

I’ve always said if possible, Miami should be in a 50k football stadium, w/ a possible expansion to 60k. The Seahawks stadium fits 68k & it sits on 30 Acres.

💯 Yeah we really do need our own stadium, it's time. We have been at Hard Rock long enough. I don't get why building the canes a home isn't a priority for the people running Coral Gables and Dade County. Even if it's not a on campus stadium the Canes still need their own field.

Not to mention, we don’t a make a fckin dime off of HRS.

We’re renters in a buyers market.

Based upon campus size & knowing the configuration of the campus, it’s literally impossible to build a stadium there. However, this should’ve been vetted a while ago. @TheOriginalCane had some very cool mapping ideas. It’s not that HRS location is such a deterrent (I mean it is, & although Rad has gone back on his original statement, that was the first thing he said as AD), but it literally feel like it’s not our stadium from the color scheme, the End Zones, the paraphernalia, etc. It’s Ross’ business venture for his football team & his pockets.

Yeah hopefully they figure it out and at least try and put a plan together to raise money for a Home stadium.

I have nothing against Prime but Colorado looks like a HS team. Hope he has a long leash.

LOL.

So Coral Gables and Dade County are going to spend $500M-$1B to build a stadium for the Miami Hurricanes?

I hope this is a troll job b/c you literally can't be this dense.
