Spread is 38.5, do we cover?

Yep.... That is exactly what happened. Cancelled the Miami leg of my parlay, and I just won the FSU game.

I was flipping channels in the 2nd half, and did not realize that they only put 10 minutes on the clock in the 3rd and 4th quarter.

It's all good.... 10 extra minutes would have only given more time for my Canes to break my heart and give up a back door cover.

Same thing happened to me. I lost significant value. The cover was never in doubt after half.

I came here to post the information that has already been offered. Football games must go 55 minutes for action. This is a no bet. Refunds whether you "won" or "lost."

Of course, not everybody will realize that. No doubt there will be disputes among novice bettors. Tickets discarded that rightfully are refunds. My friends and I took advantage numerous times over the years, finding tickets sitting on counters that were thrown away. It's not merely situations like this. Baseball totals are refunded when there is a late pitching change. Not all bettors realize that. The original total is based on the listed pitchers. Also, some idiot bettors actually believe that a push is a loss. They will throw away tickets that landed smack on the number, since they are used to dealing with ties-lose local parlay cards or a ripoff bookie.

This situation tonight is very rare because each of the last two quarters was shortened. Normally with the 55 minute rule there are weather issues that prevent the final whistle. The game is stopped beforehand. In this case I wouldn't doubt that some joints mistakenly posted the final score, believing it went the full 60 minutes. When I worked as sportsbook supervisor decades ago the Nevada Sports Consultants line service would send out immediate alerts in situations like this. A bell literally went off on the equipment in the sportsbook office, signaling that attention was required. Their top guy at that time was Michael Roxborough. Very sharp. His parents lived in Coral Gables.

No doubt the betting logs will credit the Canes with a cover, even if no money actually changed hands.

BTW, I have no idea how anybody can say the cover was never in doubt during the second half. That final touchdown crossed with barely over 2 minutes remaining.

You're right. I had it in a 10 point teaser so it wasn't in doubt for me. Forgot to mention that.
