I just read that again. It's obvious that UM is throwing a smoke screen out there and toying with people. UM is hiring Butch, but wants to troll some people before they make Butch official. This is similar to a silent commitment from a recruit, if you will.

$$$$ talks and BS walks. Peace it brother.

I believe in this...cash strapped UM better not alienate their main boosters. NOT.GOOD.FOR.BUSINESS.

this is very true. it could be that they are truly just throwing out things to make it appear they are truly doing their due diligence and then to no avail, we had to "settle" on Butch.

It's funny, b/c all signs were pointing to Butch. I mean BR was reporting it, CIS was reporting it, B Jackson was reporting it, and then all of sudden, it stopped. And now we're hiring two coaches that have no business around here, in Cristobal and Strong.

Again, the report stated there were concerns over Butch's activities at UNC, but he's still considered a "fall back" option?? How? If there's concerns, then mark my ninja off the list. Why even put yourself, remotely, in that situation.

Smoke was all over the place w/ Golden and time and time again, we kept here from "reliable sources" that there were no plans on firing him, that he was going to finish out the season, and that he would be evaluated thereafter. What happened? Exactly.

Butch being real chum-chum w/ IMPORTANT people on the BOT...Butch being chum-chum w/ IMPORTANT donors....Butch having his voice heard on LOCAL radio stations.....not a coincidence at all. Just saying.

Few points for people
- This committee has been together for a couple of weeks and a subset has been working on identifying potential candidates before the firing
- Blake is being given autonomy here by Frenk, which is a good thing. While he may not be everyone's favorite after the Golden fiasco, he was not allowed to make any decision as Shalala micromanaged the **** out of him. He knows our history, is a smart guy, but also is very PC and deliberate. HE KNOWS HOW IMPORTANT A DECISION THIS IS.
- He wants to bring in the best coach and not make a snap decision.
- Butch is on the radar mightily, but he is willing to go out and look outside the box (like Jankovich says)

I want Butch very badly, but would you make this critical of a decision without surveying who else is out there first? Its bad business to not evaluate your options, especially when you are stuck with it for 4-5 years.

I would make this critical of decision if I knew I already had the best guy in Butch.

Actually, the more I read and the longer this goes, the less I think it's Butch. Good news is, the less I think it's Mario too...

Or the opposite. If Butch is the fall back, the BOT and Admin incompetence in trying to land their #1 will BBB eventually.
