Thats BS, we flirted with ok classes, but when u flirt with what the elites leave u with u risk having to claw it out vs the Dukes and VTs. U have to understand Clemson OSU Bama etc have the best evals....and when they leave you with what they let u get, most of the time it pans out for them not us. So when u have a 5 star like Lingard that they dont care about who really a 3 star that runs in a straight line, there is no coaching to that he just sucks and was over rated. Even if we all thought he was good he sucks thats it simple, he would of went to bama and transferred. @Ethnicsands he can explain this better he has 100 times already and I agree with him.
yep. It’s all of it.

You need talent. Evals + recruiting + roster management.

You need ‘development’: S&C + technique and experience and skill-sets.

You need coaching: scheme, game plan, play calling, adjustments, culture, motivation, discipline, competitive environment.

Saying a kid wasn’t developed because he underperformed his star rating is flawed logic, because it assumes the rating was correct. But the whole point of recruiting is to find the right kids, not the highest ‘rated’ kids. As soon as you realize the ratings aren’t perfect, you realize the importance of evals. Plenty of kids who ’underperform’ their rating were just overrated. The issue wasn’t ‘development,’ it was blown evals. We may have had some development issues over the years, but we’ve done pretty solidly by RBs. Lingard couldn’t play over Cam, and he didn’t do better at UF. Anyone who blames development for lingard is just missing the point.

truth, this statement sticks out alot. Everyone assumes the rating is right and the HC failed cause hes "talented:. But when they get sent to the league and Bill Belichek never plays them its ignored. Obviously he didnt play them cause they arent that great to begin with

Careful to pay attention on that treadmill...

**** that's creeping into the elites. Need another class but with more 5 star bama and those schools want. With another like that we can creep into their territory and become way more competitive vs teams like that.
Exactly, we’re in the same domain, if we could just develop talent we’d be fine, which we just upgraded coaches

Stars aside, people get dostracted by 2 5* kids and think it means our roster is competitive with top programs. Maybe it is, but the key thing to look at isn’t just the top few kids. It’s also whether our second team is competitive. That tells you a lot about depth, competitiveness and true talent. We need a true 2 deep that’s good and scout team guys who will be better in a year or two.
