Spicer

His first punt was not struck well. It was fair caught at the 17 but should have been struck way better.

His second punt was struck well. The team did not cover the punt well. My only guess is that they were not used to punts going more than 30 yards and staying in-bounds. lol

I'd give Spicer the start against FSU.

I just rewatched the second punt. Watch it again and tell me if you still think that was a good punt.. low in the air with low hang time. I don’t know if it was bad coverage so much as it was the low hang time created the good return opportunity.

It's a sad deal when those are our two options.

Yea.. we have no other punters on the roster. 2 is usually pretty typical. We’ve got 4-5 placekickers. I don’t know if any punted in HS, but they’re at least a better pool than trying to pull a punter out of the student body, Like someone suggested a couple days ago here.

Spicer was not inspiring but at least he didn't shank any 15 yarders. His first punt was decent, led to to a fair catch inside the 20. His second one was pretty horrible. short and flat and it allowed for a huge return. It's very frustrating watching D2 schools with better punters than UM.

You obviously don’t watch the games. Baxa kicks them out regularly. 1-2 a game have been returned.

I’m getting surprised if he doesn’t kick it out of the back of the end zone. Which is good , because our st’s are a mess , especially coverage and tackling. So it’s a double positive.

He kicked it straight and forward ..consoiracy theory...Hartley kept Feagles in to help set Malik up for failure to get him out of lineup😂.

Another indictment of the lack of an effective player development program.

Think about this, how many other top teams are having a discussion about punting? Field goal kicker I get it--range, accuracy, etc. but the punting unit? This much discussion on essentially an automatic at least "good enough" play and unit personnel?

Hartley might be a great recruiter, but this unit of his is failing and flailing.

This is not the Miami standard.

Not his fault that we hired a outside LB coach instead of a special teams coach. He probably doesn't even want to coach special teams.

I have a son due in a week or so, I will take one for the team and make sure he is punting before he can walk and in 18 years we will have a solid punter....

You grow where you are planted. If Richt assigns him to be assistant water boy, the professional expectation is that he strives to be the very best at it or declines and departs.

He is a professional coach right?

A pooch punt that lands at the 17 IS A SHANK! he was aiming for the 5 yard line.

Na, He punted it a certain way to create more spin for a better bounce. There’s a video on it that was posted on this board...I’m sure somebody knows where to find it
