Special Teams -- WTF?

Our special teams are a disaster. The long snap on every extra point is an adventure. We had a kickoff out of bounds for a penalty and a kick return against us for 37 yards. We gained virtually no yards on punt returns and nothing remarkable from our kickoff returns. Why are our special teams so bad?

It's bad because guys don't want to hit. They run down the field and just get blocked. It's the same thing when they go to tackle except for perryman every else just goes up and pushes the guy out bounds they don't form tackle. They play soft.

Maybe they think they're saving themselves for the League.

Didn't Al one year bring in a specialist snapper on a scholarship. I think the kid went through snapper camps and was ranked as a long snapper. Maybe it was 2011.

They were the worst part of the game today. Followed closely by Coleys lull in the middle if the game.

Definitely a head scratcher. Historically, our Special Teams under Golden - unlike our offense and especially the defense - have been very good. Not sure what's going on.

If we don't lose a game this season due to kicking I'll be surprised.

in person a lot of our guys are running half speed and don't want to hit anyone

Guys don't seem to fill their lanes on coverage.

Was anyone else surprised we defended the fake punt so well though?

Watch the replay it was just a bad pass that was severely underthrown, had he connected the receiver would have scored an still been running. Yes Kirby was Johnny on the spot with INT but he was late getting over to the zone. A better team would have connected on that. I am gad for the Int by UM, because what matters most are game day results as a product of good preparation.

Go Canes
