South Florida '25 - The CBs

In my opinion, Memnon is correct...or will be. He correctly sees the demographic shift and the talent coming from elsewhere and seeing the diminishing returns of the region.

I just think South Florida was so far ahead in previous generations that now it's merely on par with other best region(s) so D$'s point still holds true, for now, barely.

We still produce dudes...a lot of them (especially functionally on the P4 level). But it's diminishing for sure. We've had some real **** and underwhelming ones here (that play in the NFL). I think that gives us all the preconceived notion that this areas talent is underwelming because we take a lot of it and it's not been good here.

Inflation hit the cornerback market too.

Hanks, Ewald, Cox, Gordon, Horne, J. Pierre, Sejour and White are my favorite guys from this group.

I'm not sure if using NFL excellence is a fair barometer to judge a region's ability to develop. There's 3 to 5 years of further development involved (outside of South Florida) that happens after a kid leaves high school.

As a HS coach my job is to develop good HIGH SCHOOL players and make sure my kids are prepared for college. I have literally zero control on whether that kid makes the NFL or not. I take zero credit for the kids I have in the NFL. However, I do want to be judged for (A) how my kids perform on Friday nights and (B) how quickly they adapt to the college game.

I don't want credit for Fabian Moreau, I'll take some credit for Hezekiah Masses though. I'll take some credit for Juwan Dowels.

It's not a strike against our development if Dowels didn't make the NFL. That's genetics! He was a Freshman contributer and 4-year starter in the ACC. We did our job down here.

You wanna judge a region's development, tell me what their kids are doing in college. After that it's up to (A) his college coaching staff and (B) the kid's work ethic.

Hezekiah Masses
Xavier Lucas
OJ Frederique
Amariyun Knighten

All have played early in college and 3 of them upped their stock into lucrative portal moves.

Did you think Moreau would last as long as he has in the pros?

Honestly... with his physical attributes and his earlier success he had in Washington...I thought he would've been "bigger" by now. He keeps getting signed though, so I'm happy for him. It's not easy to stay in the league this long. Probably a testament to his work ethic and talent.

i just turned on cal vs oregon state.

Zeke Masses since i turned it on had like a 105 yd pick 6 (it got called back) and just got another pick.

this kid been an int machine since hs lol

* Continued watching the game...the announcers are now calling him a future star. CAL has sent 9 DBS to the nfl in the last 4 drafts....kid may have made a great decision. 5 tackles, 2 pbu , 1 int (1 called back pick 6)

Kid is balling!

And he was a WR until the spring going into his senior year. We moved his position and changed his life.
