Good defensive tackles are rare. There are only so many big guys with the mindset and athleticism to play the position at a high level. That's why the SEC pays so much money for them.

This year is a bumper crop in South Florida. Six guys are already stacking high-end P5 offers, and there are several others that can develop. The theme with this group is athleticism and versatility.

Leonard Taylor, Palmetto (6’4, 255)- Prototypical three-technique. Fluid athlete with basketball background. Plays light but frame will easily carry 300 pounds. Martial arts experience and knows how to use his hands. Very aware player who finds the football. Excellent swim move. Best DT prospect coming out of South Florida since Marcus Forston.

Tyreak Sapp, St. Thomas (6’3, 255)- High-energy player who plays inside and outside. Quick with the ability to redirect and locate the ballcarrier. Coached by first-ballot HOF Jason Taylor. Wins with extra effort. Reminds me a bit of Marlon Davidson from Auburn. Florida commit.

Savion Collins, Palmetto (6’4, 290)- Physical specimen with unrealized upside. Excellent straight-line speed at his size. Faster (4.85 forty) than quick (4.97 shuttle). Very strong. Junior film was average but looked more fluid and polished at camp. Relatively new to football. Miami soft commit.

Anthony Hundley, Booker T (6’3, 270)- High-level athlete who is not getting the national attention he deserves. Skilled penetrator who fits best in a one-gap, upfield scheme. Wins with balance, coordination and quicks. Has even gotten reps at punter. State champion. LSU commit.

Allan Haye, Chaminade (6’1, 296)- Stout, low-to-the ground tackle with surprising twitch. Much better pass rusher than you’d expect given his body type. Basketball player with only two years of football experience. Strong and effective hands. The only player to get push on Laurence Seymore on the camp circuit.

Boaz Saint Vil, St. Thomas (6’2, 341)- Immense space-eater with surprising quickness. Ran a 5.18 shuttle as a sophomore. Similar to Louisville DT Dejmi Dumervil-Jean but has better movement skills. Had some fun lining up at WR against Wesley Neal in camp last year and won the rep. Not just a two-gapper, can penetrate. Big upside if he keeps weight in check.

Reggie Session, Carol City (6’2, 321)- Big-bodied Hialeah transfer who has bounced around. Plays RT and DT and projects well on either side of the ball. Very good flexibility for a large man. Difficult to move and stout against the run. Not an explosive player but not a stiff. Nose tackle.

Tyrique Owens, St. Thomas Aquinas (6’2, 240)- Transferred back to STA after a stint in Carol City. Projects more as a big DE than a DT at this stage. Good strength to stack and shed. Plays above his athleticism due to his toughness and ability to get off blocks. Minnesota offer.

Earl Miller Jr., AMH Delray (6’3, 260)- Basketball player with above-average athleticism. Frame not huge but has room to grow. Poor man’s RJ McIntosh. Good flexibility and can get off blocks. Plays hard. Offers from FAU and Toledo.

Allan Baugh, St. Thomas Aquinas (6'3, 255)- Yet another twitchy big man on a loaded STA DL. Plays outside and inside but frame projects to interior. Needs to improve pad level but first step makes him hard to block. Offers from Colorado, UCF and FAU.

Not even recruiting Marquis Robinson, not even in the running for Desmond Watson, not even recruiting Tim Williams, Anthony Hundley gone to LSU, Chris Thomas gone to Florida but we'll get Allan Haye, the 43rd best recruit at DT in the country. Sapp gone too. LT, lol. Every single highly rated DT in Florida is projected to the Gata. This is why we can't/won't be elite. We need an elite DL coach that can recruit. Stroud is OK, but he don't resonate with the elite DT's.

Entire defensive staff is amateur hour.

Our D-line is up there with RB, safety & tight end as our best recruited position

COVID bought the defensive staff another year most likely, and probably Manny for that matter. Diaz has show the willingness to make changes so I'd imagine most/all of the defensive staff is at risk if we take a step back on that side of the ball this year.

is that how u debate? "lol ok" the only one that would be close is chris thomas and he isn't battle tested like haye.
I'm not debating you, I don't need to waste my time. Look at the ratings. There's a reason the others are ranked higher. I'll take the people that get paid to evaluate over your opinion. Like i said before, we go 6-7 instead of 12-1 because people like you think our recruiting is up to par with the the elites of CFB.
