We’ve been spoiled at CB in South Florida. The three classes from 2017-2019 were littered with first rounders, college stars and freshmen All-Americans. Last year’s class was bad, as reflected by Miami’s decision to find corners in Orlando and Atlanta. This year’s class is better than last year but not as loaded as the prior three.

Jason Marshall, Palmetto (6’2, 180)- Stud big corner in the Patrick Surtain mold. Excellent with the ball in his hands for his size. A threat to score at WR, CB, KR and PR. Legit ball skills and strong hands. Shows explosive first step on blocked kicks. Flashes physicality. National recruit.

Markevious Brown, IMG Academy (6’, 170)- Originally from Pahokee. Physical player with a high-major body type. Long arms and big hands. Flips his hips naturally and is comfortable in coverage. Not a burner but good enough speed for corner. Finds the football. Confident demeanor. Good at everything but elite at nothing. High floor talent.

Ja'Den McBurrows, American Heritage (5'10, 165) - Highly productive ball hawk. St. Thomas Aquinas transfer. Quick feet and good balance with an explosive plant and go. Smallish frame similar to Asante Samuel. Long speed with 11.01 100M as a sophomore. Has been productive blocking kicks and as a returner. Michigan commit.

Tim Burns, Jr., Northwestern (5’10, 155)- Outspoken DB who can jump out of the gym. Aggressive and likes to jump routes (5 INTs). First Team All-Dade for the state champion Bulls. Tackles above his weight. Excelled as part of Immortals 7on7 team with Kam Kinchens, Khalil Brantley, Yulkeith Brown and Romello Brinson. Miami commit.

Kevin Knowles, McArthur (5’10, 170)- Springy athlete with feisty attitude. Aware in zone and comfortable in man. Has no issues turning and running although he is not a speedster. Can deliver a strike. Competitive with the ball in the air. Slight and underdeveloped frame. FSU commit.

Ricardo Hallman, University (6, 183)- Big-time feet. Very quick and sudden despite average speed. Ball hawk with 8 INTs as a junior. Cousin of Gilbert Frierson. Needs to improve physicality. Wisconsin commit who follows in a long line of South Florida DBs joining the Badgers (Derrick Tindal, Faion Hicks, Rachad Wildgoose).

Rance Conner, Booker T (5’10, 173)- One of the better ballhawks in South Florida (7 INTs). Very good instincts in zone and can read the QB. Good feet. Sticky hands to convert opportunities into INTs. Not a speedster (4.75 as a sophomore) but should be fast enough. Louisville commit.

Winsome Frazier, Palm Beach Lakes (6’3, 185)- Massive CB who is one of my favorite players in the class. Transferred from state champion Northwestern Bulls for family work reasons. Father was a starting guard for the 2004 Mississippi State basketball team that finished #8 in the nation. Impressive mover for such a big-bodied corner. Can erase guys when he gets his hands on them. Thrives in press. Excelled on camp circuit. Iowa State and Pittsburgh are recruiting him the hardest.

Gabe Nealy, Gulliver (6’4, 175)- Freakish length at corner. Solid feet and fluidity given his height. Knows how to use his length. Small-school player who did not participate in camps so it is unclear how he will perform against top-level WRs. USF commit.

Tyler Gaskin, Deerfield Beach (5’9, 165)- Transfer from American Heritage Delray. One of the best pure cover guys in the region. Was the most impressive corner at the Rivals camp. Prolific returner (3 TDs as junior). Springy athlete with a 37.5 vertical jump as a sophomore. Size is the one knock.

Demetrious Hill, Miami Springs (6’2, 190)- Big-bodied corner who looks the part. Plays QB and CB. Performed well on camp circuit. Speed is only average. FIU offer but has some P5 traits.

William Wells, Suncoast (6’2, 180)- Long and graceful athlete from Devin Hester’s old high school. Plays QB, WR and PR. Also plays basketball. Weak competition but competes. Intriguing athlete who would’ve benefited from spring evaluation period. Washington State offer.

Omar Simpson, Jr., Western (5’8, 170)- One of the best pound-for-pound athletes in South Florida. Stood out in a loaded defensive backfield. Playmaker who houses picks, returns, catches and runs. Finisher’s mentality with the ball in his hands. Has excellent feet on defense and excels in zone or man. Size and physicality are the concerns. UAB commit.

Travis McNichols, Northwestern (5’8, 170)- Classic South Florida nickel. Carol City transfer who will now pair with Tim Burns. Good feet and diagnoses quickly. Very good awareness. Slim frame with long arms for his size. Appalachian State commit.

Brian Blades II, American Heritage (5’9, 160)-Son of former UM and Seattle Seahawks standout. Western transfer. Natural at nickel. Very good feet and change of direction. Quicker than fast. Always on balance and plays low. Very good timing. FAU offer.

Torrie Cox, Jr., Chaminade (5’8, 165)- Son of former Bucs CB Torrie Cox. Excellent ability to click and close on the ball. Best in zone coverage facing the QB. Good speed with 22.26 in 200M. Five INTs for state champions. Good player who is flying under the P5 radar because of size.

Demitray Fields, Ft. Lauderdale High (6’1, 190)- Big corner who stands out physically. Knockback hitter. Has some ball skills. Not overly fast. May fit best at safety. Speed will determine his ceiling and position.

Thanks for bumping these, missed a couple of them. Great stuff.

Just being nitpicky, but one thing that would be helpful to me is to sort of draw a line between what you would consider "Miami caliber," just to understand the context a bit better.

@DMoney what about the 2 CB's from Polk County and Brevard County. If your adding in IMG why not toss in the others as well.

Another light cb year in Florida outside of a few names, especially in south Florida

It always SEEMS like that when your never in the game with any big names. The state of Florida is completely loaded with cb's year in and year out..this year no difference. Keep in mind this is a list WITHOUT spring of s.fla kids. And considering we sont have any palm beach plugs on the site that i know of its a fairly good list made by DMONEY
