South Florida '19- The DTs

Yeah. This was a miss. But everyone misses. Mario is going to miss too. I know most on here are going to track the career of that kid Landon Ibieta or whatever his name was from Louisana. The WR...If he blows up at LSU, there will be sour grapes that Mario shouldnt have dropped him..Guarantee it. But its just the nature of the beast.
That’s completely different. We had every chance to get kancey. Landon would’ve gone to lsu no matter what even if we didn’t cook

Meh. We dont know that. Not for certain. And we never will because we dropped him. My only point is, Mario is going to have some misses. He won't bat 1.000 in south florida. He will absolutely whiff on some kids down here that posters will say he should have absolutely offered. Just be prepared. Thats all im saying.

I have met and seen in person many top interior DL. The majority were at or below 6'3". Why some coaches have an insistence on passing up on talent for some ideal size theory phucks me up.
I guess we were coming off of signing 6'0 Nesta. Also they werent sure if Kancey would have growth potential. He is balling though at 6'0 270-275. And Pitt prettyh much runs a similar scheme with their dline that Manny did with getting upfield...though they coached it much better.

Eesh....this class was a bust.

We stupidly passed on Kancey & we dropped Renato Brown, who became a good O-lineman for Louisville. The rest did nothing. I had high hopes for Ingraham and Daxon.

These were the three we needed:

Brandon Dorlus- 6’3, 270 (Deerfield Beach)- One of my favorite under-the-radar guys. Gets off the line quick with a nice swim move. Good athlete who played basketball at small-school Calvary before transferring to Deerfield Beach. Body has room to grow. Like the upside. Virginia Tech commit.

Brandon Dorlus HL

Renato Brown- 6’3, 310 (Palm Beach Central)- Nose tackle/guard prospect who may project best on offense. Had a great sophomore year and a so-so junior year. Good natural tools with wide-body and decent movement skills. Well-put together for a bigger guy. Claims offers from Florida, Louisville and Penn State.

Renato Brown HL

Calijah Kancey- 6’1, 264, 5.06* Northwestern)- Freakishly quick tackle prospect who reminds me of Kier Thomas (South Carolina via Miami Central). Light on his feet with the change-of-direction and tackling skills of a linebacker. Also plays some fullback and has legit next level ability at that spot. Only knock is size. Pittsburgh commit.

Calijah Kancey HL

Calijah Kancey just won ACC defensive player of the year.

Mike Morris had a big year for Michigan.

Dorlus has been all PAC 12.

Add to list of guys Miami let walk out of South Florida that are outperforming the higher ranked kids.
CIS porsters: “WhEn dO pLAyeRS rAnKEd In thE 800s mAKe aN ImPaCT?”

Kancey: the 850th ranked recruit

Facts. No one every expected Kancey to play at the level he has. But we all knew he was a baller with a high floor. The recruiting sites looked at his body type and dropped him 400 spots without even watching his film. ... All the more reason to celebrate that we have Zo overseeing this analysis now, aren't relying solely on some scout who never even played the game to stack rank our targets.

TALENT EVALUATION!

A bunch of people on the board wanted Kancey and Dorlus.

We took Jalar Holley and a bunch of kids from NY instead.
