After another disappointing loss for the Miami Hurricanes, it seems head coach Manny Diaz's staff could be getting quite the makeover during the offseason.

Multiple program sources have told CanesInSight that Hurricanes' cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph is not expected to be retained on Diaz's staff going into 2020.

This news follows a report yesterday from the AP's Tim Reynolds that offensive coordinator and QB coach Dan Enos is also not expected back on staff next season.

The Canes finished an underwhelming 2019 season on Thursday amid a ton of questions about the future of the program. After being shut out by Louisiana Tech 14-0 in the Independence Bowl and ending the year at 6-7, Athletic Director Blake James released a statement late last night on his Twitter account backing Diaz, adding that he expects changes to be made within the program.

"Manny Diaz is the right leader for our program, but clearly changes are necessary and expected," James said. "Manny is in the process of making a full assessment of the football program, including coaches and staff."

As for Rumph, he has spent the last 4 seasons coaching the UM cornerbacks. A member of the Hurricanes’ 2001 national championship team, Rumph returned to his alma mater in 2016 after spending the previous three seasons as the head coach at American Heritage High School.

Manny better really hire 4 stud coaches at WR, OL, OC and Corner, because the guys he is keeping “HIS GUYS” are just JAGS and they are part of the reason he will be fired in the next year or 2. Banda, Patke, Stroud and Baker are all over there head, either average coaches or average recruiters. It will be Mannys Down fall.

I think firing Rumph would be a huge mistake. Whatever shortcomings he has a recruiter he makes up for with his on the field product.

We have far too few teachers on this staff and I seriously doubt a change at that position is going to significantly change DB recruiting here. As long as the overall product is this abysmal, no local kid is going to come here because he was wowed by our new hire.

NONE of these coaches can recruit. CB play has been better and more consistent than Safety/LB play. Special Teams sucks has been average. From a game planning stand point, yes, the Manny's gang that he all knew prior to Miami help more with actually crafting and creating a game plan, but its not because of the lack of Rumph's knowledge. I'm willing to bet its because of what Diaz wants to happen as opposed to actually listening to the guys on his staff with experience, or HIRING someone with more experience than him to argue with instead of over rule consistently.

Just compare depth @ S vs CB. We're currently suppose to have 9 CBs on the roster-we have 5, and 2 of them are TF. One of them is about to enter the draft, so that leaves 2 CBs going into next yr with any meaningful playing experience. How is that not a fireable offense? Banda is currently a top 20 recruiter in the country according to 247. He's also a better developer of talent than Rumph. 2 of his S have been selected in the 4th rd of the NFL draft, and look at Knowles this yr. There is simply no way an unbiased, objective person could ever make the argument that Rumph & Banda are both equally bad.

Hes actually sub 500 k. Now w incentives and things hed over that, but he's not as high as one would assume.

Probably with all the bonuses let’s say right under 600k. Would love for him to come in and replace both Mike and Banda as the DB coach.

You wanna fix a culture? You want to recruit DBs? You want to see people develop into leaders? I dont care if he hasn't ever coached, he knows football. And at this point I'm willing to let the experiment play out.

Would definitely change the schit culture around here. Dude would have the “me first” kids in the portal in no time. I’d be all for it but if it don’t work out, that’d be a bad situation.

You fire everyone, hire to new coordinators and let them pick their staff. Manny takes this off-season to learn how to head coach. To many times did he miss manage the clock in games and the other million things we have pointed out. No boat parties, crashing recruiting events, his priority is to learn how to coach during the game.

I see people saying he's a great teacher, yeah but at this rate with his recruiting he won't have anyone to teach lol

I like Rumph but sometimes changes are needed. In reality no matter what, him staying or leaving, this is meaningless with all the issues we have.

You had me up until the BOT making a move.
I hear you. I have my doubts but I just can't imagine another 6-7 seasons resulting in anything less than a departure from the current admin.

Right? Riiiiiggghhhhtttt??????? PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TELL ME I'M RIGHT!!!!!

Unless we organically build our way back up to national contenders, Corner is one position in south florida where we'll rarely if ever land a top recruit. These kids will allow their relationships to be bought and that's exactly what Clemson, Georgia, Bama and LSU are doing
We don't have to land the top of the top guys in SFLA. The board management and recruiting strategy at the CB position has just been mind boggling most times even with that in mind.
