He's a great teacher..blah blah blah....

The school board of Broward county is always hiring.

We need to free up coaching spots.a whole lot of dead weight. I don't see how people can justify a guy that literally had to see a therapist because he sucks so bad at getting kids in recruiting. Yall justify it by saying he "coaches up".." develops" all that sh-t is a facade.
It was about to get real with the guys he didn't recruit graduating..and him not having anything to coach up. Patke should be next

i agree but who on this staff can work the inner city?
I like Rumph the teacher, but clearly Rumph the recruiter was not that guy. Your point is valid, but I find it hard to believe there is not a single coach that can recruit Miami and has experience at the college level. We have also tried this so many times with guys like Ice Harris and top guys still leave.

Obviously guys like LCE and GoGeta can speak way more intelligently on this than me, but to me what will recruit the inner city is winning and developing players into top 3 round draft picks first. Then we can worry about the bigger fish once we have some evidence that you won't go to Miami to lose 5 games a year and get drafted in the 7th round.

Our entire recruiting strategy has to be torn down and reworked. It is clear there are issues in evaluating, the time it takes to give out offers, identifying who to invest time in, weeding out guys just wanting a bag, keeping enough irons in the fire, etc. That, to me, is endemic across the defensive staff and firing Rumph is not going to fix all of that.

I think we just gave up another catch on the slant lol. Have our DB's learned to locate the ball yet?

I think he should be fired based on special teams performance this year. Special teams were marginally improved overall but still weren't great. A lot of that improvement was just having Headley. Special teams directly cost us several games early on and were horrific for the first part of the season.

Is there a retired NFL kicker out there that can double as a kick team/special teams coach?

Signed,

Peruche

After another disappointing loss for the Miami Hurricanes, it seems head coach Manny Diaz's staff could be getting quite the makeover during the offseason.

Multiple program sources have told CanesInSight that Hurricanes' cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph is not expected to be retained on Diaz's staff going into 2020.

This news follows a report yesterday from the AP's Tim Reynolds that offensive coordinator and QB coach Dan Enos is also not expected back on staff next season.

The Canes finished an underwhelming 2019 season on Thursday amid a ton of questions about the future of the program. After being shut out by Louisiana Tech 14-0 in the Independence Bowl and ending the year at 6-7, Athletic Director Blake James released a statement late last night on his Twitter account backing Diaz, adding that he expects changes to be made within the program.

"Manny Diaz is the right leader for our program, but clearly changes are necessary and expected," James said. "Manny is in the process of making a full assessment of the football program, including coaches and staff."

As for Rumph, he has spent the last 4 seasons coaching the UM cornerbacks. A member of the Hurricanes’ 2001 national championship team, Rumph returned to his alma mater in 2016 after spending the previous three seasons as the head coach at American Heritage High School.
Manny is basura... steps in the right direction

well, I’m guessing rumph is getting canned for recruiting. CB coaches have to be monster recruiters.
If your job is to coach 6 guys then you better be a phenomenal recruiter. Rumph was the worst recruiter in program history given that he missed on every kid he coached in HS. The only reason you hire a HS coach in the first place is to get his HS players.

I’m sure he’s a good dude, and his friends like him and will support him on here. I wish him well too. But the guy was a cataclysmic failure at his OVERALL job here.

So the only coach on the defensive staff who is actually developing guys is getting canned because Diaz's cronies can't recruit for **** to help him out.

Y'all are celebrating this move as though the replacement is gonna be an upgrade. There's no chance Diaz finds a better positional coach. Recruiting is a non-starter when your HC is a dead man walking and the lead DB recruiter is a useless bartender. You guys really think anyone Diaz hires is gonna land the Surtains, Campbells, Elams, Jobes, etc? Ooh maybe if we're lucky we can 'add' an Asante Samuel Jr. here or there lmfao.

This is not a performance related firing. We all know Rumph can't recruit but neither can Banda, Patke, Baker, etc. This is a desperate HC flailing around trying to locate more yes men to make him feel safe. Now that Rumph is gone expect Baker to get deeper into his comfort zone and call a ton more zone blitzes and 8 man spot drop zones on 3rd and long. Rumph was the press-man guy and now he's gone.

We got guys like @gogeta4 in here celebrating...c'mon some of you should know better.
