Sounds like we are getting an experienced DC

All I know is manny never met the dude until interview and he did quite the number on him.

Really impressed him.

I wonder if this is why Rumph’s position wasn’t safe?

But with Rumph staying on staff, I’m guessing Brown was either promoted at Baylor or is still going to Temple.

I th

patke would be my guess

Refreshing in terms of shifts and changes in structures. Not locked into Banda/patke calling the defense or having those co dc roles

This is interesting. Would probably be a lead candidate with Fran.
Probably over fran. Diaz said he will have guys calling the defense he trust. Baker was with him at texas and la tech so he knows diaz well and his scheme. Also baker has been a dc since 2015 which is way more experince than banda and patke. It will also keep everybody in their role from last year.

Manolo didn't say he was getting a DC, he disn't say he was repositioning Patke-Banda from Co-DC.

He vaguely stated another hire is coming to that part of staff.

Wait and see.

Did you see the tweet above? There will be shifts and a structure change

So would this mean Banda will coach LBs? Fran is one of the best DB coaches in the country so I would bet he would want either CB or S...

I think he will have a solo DC title and work with Rumph. Makes sense because clearly Rumph needs help on the trail so it’s a place to develop brown into a DC and hopefully develop Rumph. Manny is really trying to elevate his guys with the strength of outsiders. That’s a awesome move.

Manny should only care about results. We are not built for a traditional 3-4.

Just like the NBA and NCAA is going “positionless” football is going away from “base” defense. U need multiple fronts period with the explosion of spread offenses. Look at Bama.

I saw it. And still stand by my observation until formally announced otherwise.

I will say this from a leadership perspective, IF he does bring in a DC and repositions Patke-Banda, strong signal of his ruthlessness.

Let's see.
I'm with you. He's said nothing definitive in regards to demoting Banda and Patke. Would be such a colossal let down if he doesn't.

Those of you expecting to get an experienced DC are likely going to be sorely disappointed. If for no other reason than an experienced DC isn’t going to take a job where he inherits a full defensive staff and won’t be able to bring in any of this own guys.

I agree it could be either of these guys and most likely Baker since Fran may get the Temple HC job. However, whoever it is there has to be a change/demotion to the current defensive staff. We only got 10 spots. If it is Fran, means Rumphs gone. If it’s Baker, means Patke May have to go back to being a GA. Let’s assume it’s Fedora OC and Baker DC.

HC-D ***
OC-Fedora
WR
RB
QB-
OL
TE-Fedora*

DC-Baker
DL-Simpson
CB-Rumph
DB-Banda
LB-Baker*

We can’t bring in anyone on defense and make no changes on that side of the ball unless not only OC but another position coach is in charge of multiple positions plus special teams. I could see Diaz handling Special Teams or Striker.
