Pretty much. It goes to show how good the 2001 team was. It won in spite of its head coach. I maintain if an 80's JJ was the coach in 2001, there would be absolutely no question by anyone who the best college football team was.

There would be no close VT game. There would be no close Boston College game. We would've had the most lopsided national championship game in history. We would've set offensive and defensive records likely never to have been touched. Imagine the Washington game, but every game of the season. And JJ would've been giving the Washington head coach the finger laughing his *** off the whole game.

Instead we had Coker. And within three years (enough time for Butchs guys to go), we began to enter the dark age. A glimmer of hope here and there, but mostly broken promises and huge disappointments. My first game that I ever went to live was ND '17. Hard to beat that, and after that game, no Miami fan in that stadium doubted that we were coming back.

...The jury is still out on that one. :/
