So now the rb that is rated the 18th best prospect in the entire country by ESPN, the RB who when Central switched to having both RB's on the field at the same time they went with him to handle the ball at every snap, now is nowhere near the level of Cook, and is not even close to Sony? Even though ESPN has Sony 14th and Yearby really really really far from him at 18. Ok just wanted to be sure, ya putz
It's not about getting who's better, it's about getting them all
I am all for getting them all, and for as many high rated kids that are in our backyard, will it suck if he ENDS UP GOING TO GEORGIA IN FEBRUARY? Yes, and also no, I love recruiting and following it, but at the same time there needs to be perspective, this is an inexact science, even less than the NFL and they spend a whole lot more and have much more resources for a lesser talent pool, and they fail more than succeed in their drafts. So to go assume that any kid is can't miss is, in my opinion, mistaken. Also in this case, we have as rated by ESPN a rb in this class that is pretty much equally rated to Sony already, so this conclusion that we are not getting studs is just crazy. Should we load up with as many as possible? Yes but we also must allow the staff to do their own evals and their process of recruiting, which in general, with the exception of a few misguided and uninformed fools, we all agree that given the circumstances, Golden has done a good job. Notice I did not say great, but good. And the great recruiting classes is not defined by the high star kids, but the ability to find those "under the radar" guys that actually end up playing like 5 stars to compliment your highly regarded recruits. Which, based on his track record at Temple, and from reports we are getting and seeing from last year's performance and so far this spring it seems this staff has the ability to do that. Just an FYI, I was told that in a couple of years Figs will go down as one of the greatest LB in school history, that is how high the staff is on him.
So yes, lump me in that group, of if he ends up here fantastic, find out how it was we lost him, if it is something we can fix great fix it and move on, if it isn't, i.e. the price was too high, then move on there is nothing you can do there. There is plenty of great talent out there, a great staff, like the Jimmy Johnson and the Butch Davis staffs, do a great job at finding it.
And finally this is for both sides, the morons like tp and all the Golden bashers, for what reason I have no idea except that for some of you it is racially motivated, and for those that assume other schools buy recruits and UM doesn't. It does happen, we know and there is testimony and stories and proof of it happening, I know for a fact in one school in Dade with some recruits it happening, and I also believe with no doubt that UM does as well, difference here is some schools have deeper pockets than others. It is what it is
