Wingo was like one of the first wr's i think Kevin Beard went to see this cycle.

I dont remember the connection to Beard but he was one of the first wr's film i watched in this class.
we had an offer out to him back in March of '24.

He had an O before his teammate at the time, '25 UCF WR signee Carl Jenkins Jr.

I’ll take it although I believe he’s overrated af. I think this is a supply & demand situation, & he’s using the demand to supply his pockets.
Yeah I think he's a good player but I don't necessarily see him as a top 150 player in the country More of a top 250 player but still good pickup all things considered

If you get Wingo, Lopez is icing
Good icing
That's a nice class. Not the sensational version but very good

Man th
With where he’s from and being a hard Gator lean this is a nice surprise when the class needed some positivity
Man this was or is needed badly get momentum at a position of need also. Very good talent for real

Watching his film I see enough physical talent he could be an absolute stud but see enough questions he could be an enormous bust . This one will be one extreme or the other . Morning in between. For some reason his HL’s remind me some of X Henderson.

His competition is far from great.

Haven't even watched his film because I never expected him to come to Miami. But say what you want to say about Beard, we've had some great development at WR. Colbie Young played his best ball in 23, Strep got better, he managed George who was a loose cannon, Horton looked better year over year. Those guys ran good routes, blocked well, and did not drop many balls. If Beard has a good relationship with Wingo, that could work out.

I hope this is more about (1) accepting a commitment from a player who's good enough instead of holding the spot for a 5 star who's not coming than it is about (2) overpaying to get a kid to say yes just to stop the bleeding of the last two weeks.

2 yrs: 6 catches for 78 yrds. Payton was also a consensus Top 60 player regardless of position, & the #10 WR in the nation. His recruiting profile had him as a 2nd Rd draft pick, similar playing style to Tyler Boyd, listed at 6’3 180 coming out of HS.

When I turned on the film, I saw some good but I saw the route tree was limited, he labored in picking up speed, & had a wiry frame. Then I saw the competition, & I became spooked that this was equivalent to a 7’0 basketball player bodying a 5’8 basketball player.

When I look at Wingo’s film I see the same issues, & he’s ranked even lower. This time, the evaluator is spot on:

Well-rounded wide receiver prospect that pairs above-the-rim athleticism with slick route running and sticky hands. Size has not been third-party verified, but has looked the part during in-person evaluations as he’s well over 6 feet and equipped with a sturdy build. Should offer some inside-outside versatility after spending the past two years attacking all three levels in one of Florida’s more potent passing attacks. Quick feet and lateral agility not allow him to win with his release, but also help make the first defender miss when the ball is in his hands. Shouldn't be classified as a true burner, but can build speed as he navigates traffic and then hit the gas when a lane opens up. Impressive body control and overall coordination yields favorable results more times than not in contested-catch situations and he has the core strength to play through contact. Must keep working on all of the little things that come with being a trusted option on Saturdays, but projects as a potential impact player at the Power Four level with his size, polish and chain-moving capabilities.

This is a nice way to say has the tools to be great, but he’s more project at this stage.
i think its similar comp as st aug is right above jacksonville. They played the same teams atleast 3 of the same teams on schedule.

but he played Nease, Mandarin, and American Heritage last year. Thats a pretty solid group of dbs.

I personally had Wingo as a priority type recruit so we differ here though.

But i like that you came with Payton...so some of these big cities you have to watch the comp levels and watch development. There has been talks of how jville kids bust ...orlando kids busting. so good reasoning from you.

If we land Wingo i dont want folks thinking I'm jumping on the wagon. I been pumping him as a prospect since the start of spring.

I like his route running ability....and he tracks the ball in the air really well. Payton was just slow. This kid has better wheels from what i see.
