I have been really impressed with our RBs ability to pick up the blitz. It’s something that doesn’t get discussed. I can’t remember a situation this year where our RBs didn’t effectively pick up the blitz. Unless I am not remembering which happens with me I have PTSD and it really messes up my memory. Not so shocked Cam is picking up the blitz good as he is a Junior and has been in a college program for a few years but the freshman have far exceeded expectations in this regard which is huge because we don’t have to always have Cam in in 3rd downs. Just my 2

Tough kids.

Cam Harris showed his ballsy play the past few years and when you land the best back in Dade and best in Broward, shouldn't be a shock that both are playing tough three games in.

Now let's see this continue against Clemson, as UAB, Louisville's weak-sauce defense and slow-*** Florida State are hardly a litmus test.

Let's not go getting ahead of ourselves. Lots of football left to play.

Let's see if this continues against Clemson, Pittsburgh, Virginia, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, etc.

That's a very good observation and I agree. All our RBs have been very good in this area. This is the product of good coaching plain and simple. It is becoming increasingly apparent that Eric Hickson is an elite RB coach. In my humble opinion, Coach Hickson is the best RB coach this program has had since Don Soldinger and it's not even close. Not only is Hickson a fantastic position coach, he has also proven to be an exceptional recruiter and has been involved in the recruitment of many players other than RB. His ability to convince Chaney and Knighton to both come to Miami on the heels of a 6-7 disaster of a season that featured one of the most impotent offenses in UM history was nothing short of miraculous and has played in very significant role in the explosive yet balanced offense we see this year.

Pay Hickson off this class alone. We had no business pulling the RB class we did after last season

Manny said it earlier, that they don’t miss a beat with the first 3 backs. They can go 100% when they are in. They are staying fresh and then you bring in someone like Burns in the 4th quarter, who wants to tackle that!

Lol I swear I was about to mention this. Rooster picked up a blitz in the 1st half vs FSU and I was like ****! Pretty impressive for a Frosh. All 3 have been good if not great at it so far..

That's a lot more than 2 cents.

No lie.. I haven't been following recruiting but I love our backs. It reminds me of the portis and mcgahee year

Excellent point. It's expected that Cam would excel in this area, but the fact that we can trust and rely on 2 true freshmen is a testament to offensive staff coaching.

They have done a great job, these next 2 games will be the real test, Clemson and Pitt back 2 back is serious from a pass protection stand point overall. All hands on deck. Clemson is always aggressive with creative blitzes and Venables is like DIaz is creating negative plays. Pitt is playing at a high level on defense and had a dominant performance carrying entire team against UL. Narduzzi is always aggressive and they have his players where he runs that "old school miami defense" Tough dline and good DB play. (even missing Jaylan Twyman)
