Something being missed

Bain is literally unblockable. Just go back and watch the game. Watch him on every snap. He wins every ******* rep, it’s unreal. No matter where they line him up, he cannot be moved from where he wants to go.

And Mesidor ain’t far behind. They both just run straight through the tackles chests on both sides, where are you supposed to run?
Did you see their PFF grades??? Mesidor is right there along with Bain. We are witnessing something special.

I’ll go back and try and find it but pivotal part of the game they double teamed Mesidor and I honestly don’t know if either OL got a hand on him and we blew up the play

He’s been as good as, the best duo since Animal and Hawk

And we seem to be stopping the run with a light box.

I was about to type this. That's the biggest thing I've noticed so far this year and I think this is also attributable to the new defensive system.

Guys are playing fast and confidently. The defense is stable and that allows the collection of individual talent we've amassed to finally start showing up. This translates to guys doing their respective jobs and individuals winning their individual matchups.

This defense has upside. We've got a really nice ceiling.

Setting the edge and outside runs all but being eliminated . Last year it was like a glitch on Madden . Where the kid sat and waited for third and twenty to use the glitch play. This year the de’s are getting upfield while keeping outside leverage against the blockers . I’ve seen both DE just stalemate or physically eliminate an OL keeping contain showing discipline / gap integrity. Assignment football isn’t getting the attention because we’re erect guys are actually lining up correctly. But all play a huge part in the big turn around defensively . More props to stone cold heatherman
Notice this as well. USF longest run was 9 yards. They create a wall where they get to a spot and work from there instead of trying to go super wide and speed rush themselves out of the play.

I hope Blount continues to improve as he fills that Mesidor role and can give both breathers this year. Losing lowe sucks as we needed him as the fourth big body DE that can play 3 downs. 44 or 35 are now the 4th which is a big step down in talent. Would love to hear Lowe’s surgery wasn’t as significant and he is cleared for contact in 3 months…this cfp time.
Why do you say they are a huge step down in talent? Is it because of their ranking? We basically never seen any of these players play.

35 and 44 may end up good but both haven’t shown that elite talent. Lowe is already 255-260 with elite traits. Would not be surprised to see Blount/Lowe as starters next year.

I've watched multiple plays where the outside defender, whether a DE, LB, or DB has been patient and held the edge instead of crashing inside. You can see it plenty re-watching the USF game. Defense is 100x more discipline this year than it was last year.

Well, im sure that has nothing to do with not stunting the dline every single play or dropping the DE in coverage way too often.
If memory serves there were conflicting insider accounts on who was responsible for stuntfu - Guidry//Taylor.

But I gotta say, respect for the Taylor's brain here. If stunting on nearly every down wasn't his idea, that's good cause that was a dumb thing to do. But if it was his idea, he survived the purge, and just stopped doing the dumb thing successfully foisting responsibility to Guidry. Respect

The stats from this years game against USF and last years were actually very very similar

But for some reason this one just felt way more dominant. I could be wrong but it just felt different despite similar box scores

None of them have played though. It's much more than talent has to why players play. Trenches players especially are not gonna be able to play if they are not strong enough. They can get hurt and damage muscles. Thats not a talent thing. Look at Samson

Yeah it was similar but they matched us pretty evenly in the 1st half last season. This season we dominated from start. Also I think Brown was injured in that game

44 played last year in a number of games.
35 has played in multiple games this year.

Don’t disagree on it being a full package and Lowe is more ready to play than both. 255-260#.
