Someone Who Knows Things

So no elite players among our specialists and a lot of position groups are average if even that.

Is Mario not good at identifying talent or are we not developing guys? Cuz our recruiting class ranks have been rated higher than this.

I had lunch Friday with someone who knows things. We have been having this same lunch since 2004. He’s been at practices since 1997. Here’s what he had to say:

DL is lights out. Particularly mentioned Bain, Mesidor and Justin Scott. Scott — “day one potential.” Best DL since 2017 easily.

Ward. Best pure thrower we have ever had. Exact quote. No comment on the other QBs.

Loved OL, coaches have been on Carpenter’s *** every practice. Deep and talented. Some concern about RT depth.

Couldn’t say enough about Trader. Smooth smooth smooth. Ny Carr “steal of the class”.

Worries about Safety position.

Arroyo running better than he ever has at Miami. Easy day 2 pick.

Martinez pushing around LBs. Second Level problem.

Brown and Porter are “good not great”. Believes that’s all they have to be with our DL.

“better team than 2017” with “best young talent since 2005”

Just checking in to see when y'all having lunch this year. Patiently awaiting any updates

Well the`y right about this: "DL is lights out." There's went out when the bright lights came on! Plus again we hear how great they look. Watch what highlight reels you can find n Bain, Mesidor or Scot and then go look at Jerome Brown, Daniel Stibbs, Warren Sapp and say how great current DL is. I expected much more from Bain especially

What does this person think of the 2025 version of the Canes team?

I know we choked the playoffs away, but the OP wasn’t that far off the mark. It was clearly the best team since 2017 and probably since ~2004. Didn’t finish.

Also had only a few main points and one was how scary the safeties were. Well……

This was actually a pretty good assessment of a team from preseason practices. The DL looks a lot different if Bain doesn’t get hurt on the 3rd play of the season. At least that’s what I’m telling myself until proven otherwise this year.
