Some Thoughts

Our 3WR sets have been found out. Need to get the TE's and RB's involved in the passing routes and targets. Love X like he were my son but we need a physical presence as part of our WR1. Young has been disappointing to me so far this season. Doesn't get enough separation and drops one too many, imo.

Our vaunted OLine isn't so vaunted if we constantly need to keep a glorified TE as our 6th lineman. I get TVD isn't 100% or prolly not even close to it but we need weapons in the passing game to build leads or fight back into games when we fall behind like yesterday.

The 2 fumbles in the UNCCH EZ that they recovered both were daggers to our hearts. Likely flips the game to us in the end if we get those instead.

Mario was always going to need 2-3 years for full roster re-build. We have the talent now to win 9-10 games if we play good football. But you gift a team like UNC 2 freak fumble TO's you're not going to win. O and they have a 2 true elite difference makers on offense (Maye, Walker), we just have a bunch of above average guys
So what are we talking, year four, five, six? Do you think if Mario acted quicker hiring an OC we may have an elite WR or two via the portal on this team now? The ACC is a poor conference and Mario is 3-7? There seems more to be more than a talent issue here.

Our biggest concern is CB

Porter is literally carrying this group

And the bad news is it’s one of the spots on the team that recruiting has absolutely sucked
move jaden davis to STAR to backup couch and rotate the brown brothers and richards opposite porter till one of them sticks

dunno if this will work, but can't be worse than asking davis to check 1on1 giant humans who are fast af 40 yards down the field

I’m a big Guidry fan but that sequence was…I would need an explanation

Davis gets torched and commits a touchdown saving penalty and then literally the next play we line it up the same way

I swear Maye must have been like

yeah it was mind boggling. i think james williams was supposed to be safety help on the second one, but for reasons unknown he had eyes on the tight end making an outbreaking route

Yeah I didn’t rewatch or try to figure out what happened so I don’t just want to blame the coordinators

Like the one TD where Kam just totally blew the assignment

i can't find the wider angle highlight, but i don't understand what james was doing here. ended up in no-mans land

For the most part Miami came to play and in the first half it appeared as if the ending to GT was gone

Second half, different story

1) Reuben Bain - Absolute beast, best DL on the team and hes only a Fr. Finally they called a hold against him but he's a special player
2) Jacolby George - Was a 4 star big recruit and is finally showing it. Big time player who could play at any program.

After that, where are we? There are no "special" players on this team, no game changers and thats the circle of events Miami seems to be in. To get those plyers Miami needs to show they can win games like UNC but they can't win games like this until they get enough of those types of players.

The Jeremiah's, McCray's, and others that seemingly can make the difference between hanging in games like this for 30 minutes or actually winning them.

As for QB; Look, TVD is what he is, you can win with him and last night he was beat up and stood in thre. But I'd much rather recruit an elite QB and have them develop rather than going to the revolving door of portal QBs.

Also, while this is a deep group of WRs there is no separation in ability and all seem to be diferent versions of the same player. I like Horton and Young but players like Smith and Ray Ray need to be on the filed to expose the top of the defense. The same can be said for RB as to date Miami doesnt have any big plays from their RBs.

On defense, I don't like to criticize players but where is Leonard Taylor? 5 star, top DT in his class and still a projected first Rd pick but he doesn't make plays. Heck, Gerald Willis was dominant here for his one season (he was also a one time 5 star).

The defense also cant be giving up 3rd and tens when the opposing Q scrambles (been happening for 20 year) nor allow 3rd and 20s.

I still think there is room to save the season and show that Miami is improving but the staff needs to use the roster more effectively.
Second half I knew UNc would come out and go up the middle. They discovered it late and started going with it. Nothing we can do when they do that, we just don’t got that Bain type in the middle and you need more than one in college. Every time Bain came off the field I got worried.

Watching that was that James fault? I thought he was going for the crossing and passed that off like he knew that guy was going on a go route. I felt like it wasn’t on him cause of his reaction. Was he suppose to come under?

He basically pointed at the player to get him while back peddling. So me and my boy watching it I was thinking that doesn’t look like it’s on him. We both thought that. I could be way off though

he definitely has eyes on the TE on the outbreaking route, maybe he was supposed to and kam was supposed to cover the deep middle?

#20 looked at walker for a second as he was running past him then looked back upfield. either davis was supposed to be left on island all the way down the field (which would be bad on guidry) or he was supposed to have safety help and didn't. @Lance Roffers you have thoughts on this?

I think we’ve seen enough of TVD to know who/what he is.
At this point, I want to see Emory, CJJ and Ray Ray get burn on offense.

They don’t have to play them exclusively, but simply give them all a full series per half with potential to earn more.

Defense is actually improved, but depth is a major concern there still. Are there any kids at any of the db positions that can get some burn with 1st team defense?

James is pretty smart position wise I feel like he’s the voice of the defense. Is he perfect? No

The penalties ain’t smart and the talking sh when your losing isn’t either

Guys have to trust others around them if not you cannot play freely. Sometimes you have that in your head but obviously you won’t say it but it matters. JW is a guy that should do well in the right fit in the nfl.

no portal WR worth a **** gave us even a look. we hired our OC 18 years too late missing out on targets. we have a good WR class coming in though

People forget but after we got Cohen and Lee it got really slow for us in the first window of 2022/23 portal. We missed on a lot of good players. I think this was around the same time Ruiz was out of the NIL game. We were settling for leftovers for the remaining of that window before spring.

While Parrish is hardly a serious problem, I agree 💯. He's Joe Yearby 2.0. Takes advantage of gaping holes, decent vision, decent shiftiness, average speed, no 2nd gear so he tries to lower the shoulder (but at 5'10", 190).

Looks very nice against mids like Bethune, Miami-OH, and Temple (8.78 ypc) but then goes half that (4.25 ypc) against NC, TAMU, and GT. Chaney doesn't provide much either. Again, JAGs just sprinkled all over this team like faux coconut on a chocolate donut
Yearby was much better then Parrish. I wanna say Yearby ran for 1k yards. Yearby torched the ACC, Parrish can't torch anything

Any team that has Couch and Flagg even sniffing playing time isn’t there yet.

We have a much more talented roster with better coaching, but still have holes. Our OLine is stout, our DLine is playing better, but our LBs,CBs,WRs, and QB are not horrible but not great either…it’s common sense.

How were we going to contain Walker and Maye? Cmon man some of y’all are too emotional. We are above average and better than last year, but not “9-3 or better good”. Yet…

Mario goofed hard with his OC hire in year 1, we all know that. Zero excuses. That was atrocious and i said Mario should be the one to pay Gattis's buyout out of this $80M contract (i know it wont happen but it should). Dawson is obv way better, how good we'll see. But yes this definitely set us back a year on WR talent (ex. B Innis).

If by year 3-4, we dont have a team full of studs, then Mario is a failure. We all know he's not an X's & O's guy or game-day coach, the entire plan from day 1 with Mario was to stack enough talent to build an UGA (junior) type team. Deserves 3-4 years for that.

I'm not going to panic over Mario right now. This same **** in year 3? and for sure year 4? Different story.

Citizen is what we need. But he won’t play here.

There is no way you’d play outside leverage on that player, in that situation, while having your safety play robber and give him the entire middle of the field open.

That’s a miscommunication, where Davis played the wrong coverage, or the safety screwed up.

They argued with each other afterwards.
