For the most part Miami came to play and in the first half it appeared as if the ending to GT was gone

Second half, different story

1) Reuben Bain - Absolute beast, best DL on the team and hes only a Fr. Finally they called a hold against him but he's a special player
2) Jacolby George - Was a 4 star big recruit and is finally showing it. Big time player who could play at any program.

After that, where are we? There are no "special" players on this team, no game changers and thats the circle of events Miami seems to be in. To get those plyers Miami needs to show they can win games like UNC but they can't win games like this until they get enough of those types of players.

The Jeremiah's, McCray's, and others that seemingly can make the difference between hanging in games like this for 30 minutes or actually winning them.

As for QB; Look, TVD is what he is, you can win with him and last night he was beat up and stood in thre. But I'd much rather recruit an elite QB and have them develop rather than going to the revolving door of portal QBs.

Also, while this is a deep group of WRs there is no separation in ability and all seem to be diferent versions of the same player. I like Horton and Young but players like Smith and Ray Ray need to be on the filed to expose the top of the defense. The same can be said for RB as to date Miami doesnt have any big plays from their RBs.

On defense, I don't like to criticize players but where is Leonard Taylor? 5 star, top DT in his class and still a projected first Rd pick but he doesn't make plays. Heck, Gerald Willis was dominant here for his one season (he was also a one time 5 star).

The defense also cant be giving up 3rd and tens when the opposing Q scrambles (been happening for 20 year) nor allow 3rd and 20s.

I still think there is room to save the season and show that Miami is improving but the staff needs to use the roster more effectively.

Said it in other threads - Mario has upgraded our talent level from subpar to above average but we lack any real game-changers. And in college football particularly on offense (QB, RB, WR) they make ALL the difference.

Our best player is a 5'9 technician slot WR. Other teams - Marvin Harrison, Deon Coleman, Tez Walker. There's just no comparison here.

That Washington WR is amazing too

no portal WR worth a **** gave us even a look. we hired our OC 18 years too late missing out on targets. we have a good WR class coming in though

we need to play Ajay or CJ more at running back. there is no explosiveness.

WR's can get open but TVD doesn't see them. he missed Horton on multiple plays. we do need barshad, Ray Ray, and Robbie to get chances.
Ray did play more last night but tvd didnt even look at him.

Our defense is a mess. our upperclassmen play like Manny is still here. mental mistakes and celebrations. Bain, Wayne, Kelly when healthy, Wes, they are all competent. We desperately need safeties and Cb's. Flagg and keotra should be permanently benched. we have 4 talented lb freshman, dont tell me they cant be better than Flagg who's a GF player at best.

Yep. Just like last year when virtually every portal WR told us to fvck off, it will be the same story next portal season. We're stuck with having to get things done with our current roster of WRs.

I have no clue why they can't get CJ on the field. hes the only healthy back on the roster who can turn a play w his speed. Don is having a good season but he is what he is. hes a nice back not elite. glad hes healthy but hes just ordinary. same w Parrish.

No excuse to not playing CJJ. I get it he's a freshman and he's slight, but man, put him in for a couple plays, get creative and give him the ball. At least he's a player that the defense now has to account for and can pull attention away from other areas that you can exploit. SAme deal with getting Ray Ray in there. Give him a jet sweep and see what he does and then watch the opposing defenses forced to follow him more closely and thus opening things up more.

you dont need to run him in cave man dives up the middle. you can use him creatively to get him in space and let him work as you said.

While Parrish is hardly a serious problem, I agree 💯. He's Joe Yearby 2.0. Takes advantage of gaping holes, decent vision, decent shiftiness, average speed, no 2nd gear so he tries to lower the shoulder (but at 5'10", 190).

Looks very nice against mids like Bethune, Miami-OH, and Temple (8.78 ypc) but then goes half that (4.25 ypc) against NC, TAMU, and GT. Chaney doesn't provide much either. Again, JAGs just sprinkled all over this team like faux coconut on a chocolate donut

Bad thing is those recruits are on the bench now. Hard sell to this class and portal guys next year on pt when not even those guys are playing and you got 3 receivers that make up 75% of your offensive passing yards. Also all three come back next season. But who knows Mario can sell a cup to a genie.

Okay, fair enough, how long will it take for Mario to gain the talent needed? Also, did this lack of talent cause the GT loss, yet provide a win verse A2M?

Last night was a very winnable game, but again, we hear excuses. This is exactly why some of us did not want Mario. He is a good recruiter, but not coach. How long before recruits give up on him due to development and chances to win? This team does not look like it is improving, it looks like it is regressing, much like last year, if that was even possible.

Did Kelly or Parrish come back in after their injuries? Can't afford any of these guys out next week. I think it's def make or break Saturday night. Win and they may be able to salvage 9-3. Lose and they may just completely fold up

Why should he get special treatment? All the other RBs have to run dives up the middle…

Oh you mean we don’t have to run right up the middle on almost every run play??

Mario was always going to need 2-3 years for full roster re-build. We have the talent now to win 9-10 games if we play good football. But you gift a team like UNC 2 freak fumble TO's you're not going to win. O and they have a 2 true elite difference makers on offense (Maye, Walker), we just have a bunch of above average guys

i agree on cj ... we have no homerun hitters
