Some NC State thoughts after rewatch

Pringle was a Top 10 RB from a school that has given us three players the past two years. It had nothing to do with politics or recruiting rankings.

It came down to two things: Pringle was nicked a lot (he was on camera during one of our home games in a sling) and the staff really liked Jordan Lyle. When both guys got healthy and Lyle underperformed, Pringle got his shot and won the job.

In order for me to say that I would need proof. I have none, so call it a coincidence, maybe it's the redundancy of the playcalling, maybe it's practice habits. The point is the injuries are constant, the "why" isn't my fight.

So that is actually what you’re saying.

Quick question. How did the frequency and severity of these injuries compare to other teams. You need a baseline of data to make claims, otherwise it’s just pulling **** out of your ***.

Gotcha just ignore everything else that is written until you find the right narrative. I'm actually saying what I actually wrote, ****head.

So yea i sort of agree with you on it with benefit of the doubt.

i think its a mi of nil as well though because lofton can literally do anythin save drop his draws ont he field and he will be a focal point.

guys like lofton and lyle have ripped it up at greentree

Could be with Pringle.

Lofton & Lyle should be a lesson in forcing it because of what you see in practice vs actual results in games.

It's crazy that:
Pringle was RB #5 a couple weeks ago (Stanford) to RB #1 last week (NC St)
Lyle was RB #1 2 weeks ago (Syracuse) to looks like no longer being used

I can't remember 2 Miami RB's having that big of a swing in usage/depth chart in that short of a timeframe

zayquan baked himself so that was a no brainer. But like u said cost wise they were likely close so that was a huge hit for jakkobe thomas.

they did a good job with their fills in the portal this go round...im hoping its similar this off szn as well.

No Spring portal concerns me. Now that our coordinators and position coaches are settled, I hope we’re all over the winter portal and don’t leave gaping holes.

It’s not just roster building these days, it’s retention. Letting Patterson walk and getting Thomas (for probably half the cost) looks genius. Horton is nice, but Marion for half (?) also looks nice. But Samson and our 5-star DLmen are still here content to play backup roles.

That’s how you build it out, and Mario is doing a **** of a job there. We all knew before he came here he stinks on game day, and boy does he stink on game day. But there’s dudes on this roster at all position groups and the young talent has me excited for the future.

Jevon Holland swears by Mario. He isn’t everyone’s speed but the time he puts into recruiting isn’t belaboring for him; it’s real relationship building which pays off with higher retention.

Are we expecting antitrust lawsuits to come flooding in post-spring or do you (we, anyone reading this) believe this new one-time January window will hold?

I agree.

I rewatched the game for only the DTs, with a specific eye on Blount’s snaps (a lot of them came at 1T, surprisingly), and we have a few real dudes. Very impressed with Simpson’s movement. Very impressed overall with Scott. I hope Moten comes back next year to wreck shop.

Blount makes hustle plays, and probably won 2-3 reps of the 15+ I watched, but when he is currently OL engaged, he tends to get stuck. More strength and better hands will hopefully help him put those great feet on more consistently display. I personally thought he should stick with Mesidor’s role (and more 4i and 5T) until he gets bigger and stronger, but apparently everyone is aligned on him playing DT. Hopefully, he puts on another good bit of weight/punch.

Mind you, I defer to OL/DL on these observations and for more technical input. I watch our DBs most of the time, but was interested in what we have at DT so I rewatched.

Pringle bounced outside on a good number of zone plays. That is something most of us thought wasn’t being taught but clearly it was a lack of vision.

For example: Pringle likely scores on the SMU 4th down run that Brown cut away from the hole.

IMO it's naive to think the depth chart & opportunities are just a straight reflection of talent.

If so then:

Why did Lyle start over Brown vs Syracuse? Brown has obviously outplayed Lyle this year. It's either bias or poor evaluation.

Why was CWH higher on the depth chart than Pringle until the Syracuse game? I find it hard to believe CWH was ever better than Pringle

Why did CWH get carries vs NC St but Lyle didn't? Is CWH now more talented than Lyle, or were there other reasons?
