If Beck is healthy and Dawson is who we think he is, this offense will cook. I think Dawson gets a lot of credit for last year and rightfully so, but part of that credit was just sitting back and letting Cam be Cam. Cam extended a lot of plays.

That’s not Beck. He looks to be decisive in his reads and gets the ball out quick. So it will be paramount that Beck be very comfortable in Dawson’s scheme so he can get the ball out quick.

Will very likely be fewer big plays, but he could still carve up defenses with quick hitters and consistent run game that keeps us in 3rd and short.

And spoiler alert, Dawson will be a hot commodity after he cooks this year. Js.

LOL...It wasn't Stockton that had anything to do with Texas winning that game and Beck has the better chance of not throwing a 3rd and long pick in field goal range to go up 6 late 3rd

It was 6-3 Texas at half. I'd say based on 2 years of Beck, vs. the game and a half we saw of Stockton that the far more likely outcome was GA winning more comfortably than losing the game.
Beck threw 3 interceptions in the first half.

Bad qb’s are slurped often. Look at Allar from Penn state. That’s what makes the Beck hate so outlandish. I don’t know if I’ve seen a qb with his resume be looked at so poorly. Young man from Texas was catching it pretty bad last year also.

But the fact that Carson Beck is being looked down upon the way he is really is crazy to me.
Same here bro cant believe how bad hes gotten **** on especially on here. I expect it from others but with our QB history the last 20 years he will easily be top 2 long as hes healthy!! What i hope is happening is hes seeing all this and saying oh ya watch this!! Hope he shows tf out! He put up 3500+ yards 25+ tds in the SEC west sure he can put up 4k 30 plus tds in the ACC. Go look at the schedule UGA had last year compared to ours this year lol. If we can have 2 QBS in a row go #1 in the draft we'll establish that QB pipeline like OSU has at WR. Which will in turn bring us the the Elite skill positions Oline always gonna be good! Any real fan should be lookin to the football gods for Beck to do good this year!

I'm not sure what makes it ridiculous. I want him to do well, too. I think he can. I'm not saying he cannot do well or that Dawson won't, for example, add more PA to his call sheet. This thread originated as a conversation about what can lead to a QB making a rise to the #1 overall pick.
Sorry to be such a zealot. But, Beck was a top 5 pick w/w/o the injury. He will be top 5 again. It’s useless to speculate, But I get the conversation. Any questions on Beck’s future, it’s this Bobo vs Dawson. All things being equal, future is bright🙌🏽

Beck doesn’t have to be Cam to be 1.1. But we don’t need him to be 1.1 to win, either. 3,500 yards and 25 TDs can get us where we need to be. Hes better than I’ve pretended after rewatching his tape. He is not Cam. But doesn’t need to be to still be good
NOPE I want 4K yards passing and 40+TD’s like Dawson did with Clayton Tune at Hou and Cam at the U.

Beck threw 3 interceptions in the first half.

Wrong game

And i’ll take my chances with Carson Beck over what I saw from Stockton in that second game 2h and vs ND

Of course Stockton can imporve moving forward

I see Beck as having a role similar to JJ McCarthy at Michigan. He only threw an average of 275 passes during the regular season (compared to over 400 for Beck at UGA) at a very high level in combination with a great running game. Beck doesn't have to throw for 3,500 yards for this offense to hum.
Not true at all. This is modern college football. He absolutely needs to have some Cam Ward type games.

If Georgia's offense was worth a **** this past year then Beck would already be in the NFL as a first round pick. He dealt with an OLine that gave up 25 sacks, a run game that ranked in the 100s, and a group of pass catchers that led the nation in drops and he still got them to the SEC champ game.

Beck should be used a Little more on That read Option for Big Games only Like ND,Florida,Louisville - We Could Use 100 to 125 + Combine in Total those Three Games! Maybe Rushing A Couple of Touch Down in those Games By Beck could make a difference . His Legs Were Really difference Makers Vs Clemson, Tenn last year. He is a Mobile Qb.

My $0.02 is that Beck has a gambler's chance of returning to his 2023 form. That may not be Pick 1, but it is most likely Day 1.

Two things need to be true for that to happen: 1. His arm needs to be healthy, and 2. his WRs need to get open.

Go back and watch the first half of the bowl game. Ward didn't really need to razzle dazzle. We had guys running wide open everywhere. He just had to hit them. And he did. Beck cannot do what Ward did vs. Cal or Va Tech. But he can do that. Defenses will need to respect our power run game, and that will allow Dawson to get the most out of Beck and the receiving corp.

p.s. I forgot how good Jojo looked in that game.

That’s going to help him. From what he showed last year, he needs more. Hopefully, there’s a lot more playaction and designed combo routes called for him. Those 5 and some protection schemes are going to be tested, I bet. Beck and Dawson will need to show they can beat the blitz. That alone is an entirely different dynamic than a QB who rose to #1 in part because he struck actual fear into any thoughts of blitzing him.

Clayton tune did great in this system and so did geno smith and multiple others as long as Carson isn’t tvd we should be fine people are open just do your job and find the check downs or throw it out of bounds if it’s not a clear shot take calculated risks and hit on 60% of those and we’ll be fine and catch the ball when thrown to you

For sure. No one will replace Cam Ward, he was special. But your statement holds true for literally every other QB in college. That's why you bring in a guy who was a 2 year starter for UGA. He has the snaps to read defenses and handle pressure. Carson Beck will not do what Cam did. But if his arm is good and his receivers get open (both very possible), there's no reason he can't do what Carson Beck did in 2023.

Will be elated if I'm wrong about this, but I don't at all see Feldman's view.

Beck needs the system to work for his specific skill set. Cam's rise to #1 overall is partly because he is the system or can be successful between them.

Two very different values, IMO.

Beck can pass the football well-enough to look good if the rest of the team plays well. He's obviously no Cam, but proven to be competitive at the highest level.
